Bought a black/crema 88/9 328GTS, very last of the pre-ABS cars, a logical choice for me having owned a 308 GT4, a 308GTSi, and a Mondial 8. I am sure you will all be sad to hear that I will not be spending as much time on this forum in the future, but if you miss me you may find me on the 328 forum. The 328 has the looks, the performance, and the ease of maintenance that I was looking for. They are also appreciating although right now the market seems to be taking a breather.

Someone tell Alden, he doesn't read my posts :)

Hope this car meets your expectations. Last of the 328's make sense, the most evolved of the series.

    Enjoy the ride.

    Regards,

Russ's new car is actually the last of the NON-ABS 328, and then in 1989 they bring out the ABS which is the last of the 328 series. It solves all the cooling problems and electric fuse board problems.

As far as I know (with all usual reserves) the last US MY 1988 (non-ABS) is #78823.

Congrats Russ!!!! My brother and I co-own 76629. The third produced MY 88.5 with upgraded suspension and no ABS. The first one delivered to North America. Cool that you own the last one.

And....probably listing this car for sale soon. We've owned it for 2.5 years and have averaged 237 miles per year. Don't drive it enough and I personally prefer driving the Mondial.

    Bruno,
    What a beautiful car.
What are your driving impressions since you have driven both?

    Hi Ron,

    My driving impressions (purely subjective):

    328:
    Seating position: More sport oriented
Sound: excellent. Nicer than the Mondial t
The car is tight and hooked up. Revs freely and has a sport feel. You really feel like you're driving the car. Has a good amount of power and the handling is superb.

    348:
Seating position: more touring and upright
Sound: nice but not as throaty as the 3.2
This car is softer (even in the hard setting) and because the wheelbase is longer, feels more comfortable. It's a true touring car.

Probably not the third, but - probably - the fourth:
    76626 is a GTB, the first one with the suspension mods;
76627 a GTS (but I am not 100% sure it has the suspension mods)
    76628 a GTS,
    Then comes 76629.

Were the two cars of the same version, I mean 328 GTB vs 348 TB; or 328 GTS vs 348 TS?
I have a 328 GTB and a 328 GTS, both with suspension modifications. The GTB is a simply a much better car, as far as precision and chassis rigidity are concerned; in fact, the 328 GTS simply cannot compare on these matters.

As the 348 and the 328 have the same power-to-weigth ratio, the performance below 100 mph is actually exactly the same; in fact, below the 60 mph mark, the 328 is actually a tad quicker.
The variant of the two cars would therefore be the most important factor:
If you compare a 328 GTB to a 348 TS, the 328 GTB wins hands down.
If you compare a 328 GTB to a 348 TB, it will be much more balanced, about even (although the 348 would feel heavier)
If you compare a 328 GTS to a 348 TB, the 348 is the better car

Ah!!! My mistake. Was comparing the 328 GTS to my 1989 Mondial t cabriolet (Not sure whey I wrote 348). 2 very different cars.

Thanks for the correction. I suppose it's the third 88.5 with upgraded suspension (if 76627 did not have suspension mods) or the third 88.5 GTS.
    Fourth 88.5 MY
