Qp and gt motors r built for longevity. I have an 07 qp with 115 k on the clock. Also have a spare drivetrain with 11k miles on it if u go that route.
Should fit with some mods. If u do it, you'll need a 355 6 speed mates to it. Trying to imagine how responsive the car will be with that set up

i believe the maser v8 block is the same block used in the F430.
if so shouldnt the 430's gearbox bolts right on? the thing is the manuals are rare compared to the paddle shifter gox

maser has a 90 degree crank vs a 180 in the fcar... arguably some say the 90 sound better especially off throttle. i must agree

i reckon 430/maser motor has much more torque than the 355/360 which i feel is a little lack luster down low

The Maserati engine runs a standard crank firing configuration, whilst Ferrari run flat plane cranks.

If you're not going to run a proper Ferrari engine in the car (and the Maserati engine isn't a proper Ferrari engine!), you might as well fit a small block Chevy in it! - More torque and far cheaper to run and repair!

i'd go the f430 engine route with maybe a 355 manual trans paired to it

low maintenance and tons of power

I'm no expert but that's sure doesn't look like a high-flow exhaust setup...

Looks fantastic to me, at least on my phone. Seems to be a long tube 6>2>1 setup that oughta make awesome torque across a wide powerband. I'm just going on my experience as a modifier and have no specific knowledge of that system, but it looks to be extremely well thought out on the face of it.

Love that big honkin' flat 12 and the torque it makes. Gotta wonder how its mass impacts the awesome balance of the 355 chassis, but I'd welcome the chance to air it out on the track if the opportunity ever arose. Cool engineering exercise regardless. I'd love to own it if it were a sleeper. :)

Do you know the weight of the original power train? I'm sizing up a scissor lift table for my engine out!

I'm for a 348 engine in a 348, a 360 engine in a 360 and so on. The way I see it the issue is not what engine in which car but what car for one's butt. If my refrigerator is getting too small for the amount of stuff I want to store in it I don't try to re-engineer it: I buy a bigger one. Maybe if one feels the 348 is underpowered for their taste they should look for a faster car. The total cost of a proper engine swap can't be that much less than a full car swap.

But if what you are after is a project for the thrill of mechanical adventure, then run with it.
