I own a 348 spyder. For some crazy reason I have been thinking about buying a 1989 RR Silver Spur (no particular reason) Any comments to help me think rationally would be appreciated. Andy

Did you just celebrate your 70th birthday? Late life crisis? :) If you are under 70, no reason to lust for a RR

Sounds like a money pit. Old RR? No thanks.

Sure. wanting to buy any car is normal by any standards. Some here have over 50 cars, is this normal?
Or you could want to be like this raper who got his will satisfied at death by showing sitting in his lambo rather than a gasket. Such an urge could raise some eyebrows. Some people got some weird urges.
This is very healthy albeit the car is a RR but again if this is about a clean experience: go for it. The worst that can happen is you dont like it and you'll sell it at some loss

In addition to the 'exotic' cars, I also have a 69 jag 420g, and a 76 silver shadow. I enjoy going out to dinner, shows, events with the family in the RR. It is comfortable, classy. I even have a RR chauffeur cap which my kids got for me - and I do wear it. Nothing wrong with variety. I drive it over 1,000 mile round trip with 5 adults and their luggage to attend my daughter's graduation - amazing space, fabulous ride.....and yes I do carry Grey Poupon in the glove box!

This is an instance where someone thought thru a question (serious to me). Thank You for the insight. If I don't like it I can sell it. The loss won't be any greater than attempting to do my own investion which I really suck.

What about a Bentley Arnage from 2000-2009 as another option. I understand about having a variety of cars to use.

What is the source of historical pricing for the RR. I am curious as to whether they are going up or down. Any investor insight more than welcome.

Not crazy at all. I've been tinkering with the idea as well.

Just as a sports car can fill a certain mood or itch, so can a beautiful hand crafted luxury saloon.
