that black 76 is interesting. #12598. the Dino Register shows the car for sale in 2012 by BHCC with no engine for $7950 and mileage of 26463.
Only 42 miles added since then. I wonder what it looked like when BHCC had it.

The VIN plate on the door jamb might give you an idea. :)

How nice would it be if if the Dino GT4 register was sold to someone that had the time and inclination to update it?

have updated (lowered) the price for my '75 (ie pre smog) Gt4 - $49,500 basis car without spares (Cromadora wheels/engine/carbs/dizzies/headers etc etc, but with tools/owners book)

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/530774-ferrari-dino-308-gt4-10402-a.html

I think its fair value but market is market. If no takers will probably pull the ad and line up some winter jobs to do, then list again in spring.

This looks like a genuinely original, low mileage carb car which would have probably fetched >100k last year at a good auction.

wrong thread Derek .. this is a GT4 market thread.

Most of the GT4s on ebay are project cars and way overpriced which is why they have been run across the block dozens of times. BHCC wants $27K for that really trashed 208, which is the dog of the various versions. I heard they paid $10k for it and at that time it had a crankshaft ... which is a mere $5K detail. Who removes a crankshaft?

The current prices for GT4s seem to be very similar to Mondials ... with the cleanest cars bringing $40 or a tad more if everything lines up. Not surprising as the GT4 is the Mondial's predecessor .. both are an acquired taste. I have owed both and personally prefer the GT4 if only because it has carbs and is a little more edgy.

I sold my last month, and lost $15,000 on it. Mechanically gone through, $9,000 in engine work. Smoothest shifting GT4 on the planet. But I knew the market was dying, and just stayed in too long. But this was an experiment .... but I really did not think the drop would be that much. I knew back in April the the longer I waited the less it would bring. With the election coming up. So I was really anxious to get it out before December. As I really think the market will be softer in the spring summer next year. Otherwise I would have just tucked it back and waited. But, I am afraid this car will be soft for many more years.

Mine had a spot of rust the size of your Thumbnail below the driver door handle. Paint was not perfect, but looked good a 5 feet, not even a 10 footer.

Makes me sick that gt4s are so low priced and 308s are more. I'm going on 16 yrs with her. Don't get me wrong I'm not selling ,but that feeling when prices are up is great. Especially with such a low production run compared to a 308

Tell me about it. I think I saw where 320 were made worldwide in 1977 for example and 260 in 1978. And the Ferrari F12 tdf is a massive 799 produced..... well....

Yes when prices are rising nobody wants to sell and dealers try to get in on the trend so they rise some more. Then there comes a point where people get itchy for cash (usually in the fall) and they start to sell. If a lot of people decide to sell then nobody wants to buy because they think prices are going to go down more. Then the flippers and dealers want to sell before the bottom falls out. Then, especially if some of those people have to sell, the bottom falls out .....

There are no fewer than 4 BLACK and 3 SILVER GT4s on the market right now. Used to be you only saw red cars for sale.

It does not help that 355s and 360s have reached the point where they are starting to come into reach of the typical 308 buyer. "Why would I pay $55K for an 80s car when I can get a 355 for about the same money?"

I would argue the "80s" car is worth more for so many reasons.

Actually these are 70s cars which makes them preferable to 80s cars which were emasculated by emissions legislation ... thanks for the correction.

    Hello everyone.
Im new to the Chat, and Im looking for a nice Euro GT4.

What do you all think of the white GT4 at RPM in VT?
It seems a high price for a 60K mile Italian market car.
    They got it in Italy.
    Interior is tired.
The engine must be tired by now.
    Thoughts?
    thanks much

Just my having recently sold one for a 20% loss. At that price is should be almost a 99 point car or some such. But I just bought another car and paid $77,000 more than I had in the budget, so obviously if you like it and can afford it....... funny thing yesterday I gave away a book called "Living on the Edge" to a customer in the knife world. I find out today that book is now bringing over $1,000 per copy. I use to give these out like post cards. Bought 1200 of them for $3 each. So that was pretty slick... since I know only have about 7 left . But I did sell a lot of knives ....... funny world , you never know what will go up.

Let us know what you do on the $110,000 Italian White GT4. I love those little cars.

I am biased here as I am selling a Gt4 in classifieds but perhaps I also have some skin in the game as far as values. I like the RPM car from the perspective of color (its not red) and the Euro spec, also being a '75 it can go to California easily. Great that they have done some work on it and great if that's all it needs, but my own experience suggest that original cars will need fettling in all manner of places. Forgetting price completely, my question would be how much life is left in that 2v engine if it is original.

I would say that at this price it should really be a sparkling car in today's market. I think you could spend less than half the amount and do as well and possibly better (see the red car listed here on fchat, not mine, as an example).

My car has been on offer here for a while, and you can argue the value all day but it is still unsold. Euro's are definitely more desirable but not at any cost. I cautiously suggest that there is better value out there than the white RPM car (if still available the blue and black and the silver cars seem closer the mark).

Good luck in your search - your timings not bad imho.
