Guys, I lost my only set keys and remote. I called my dealer and he is trying to get in touch with someone. Naturally, the car is not where it should be, crap! If I get a key, is there any way to bypass the immobilizer So I can use the car (or at least move it?) New ones can take weeks to get. Thanks, A disgruntled Boaf
If you have your key code, you can have a local locksmith make you a key. You'll need your immobilizer PIN to bypass it and start your car. You'll find the instructions how to do this in your alarm system manual.
Hi Bob, See this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/519755-fobs-pin-code.html I'm sorry to report but this most likely won't end well. If you order a new set of FOB's, they come with a new PIN and you need your current PIN to teach the new codes to the immobilizer in the car. This is a confusing topic and many dealers do not even understand it correctly. Call me anytime and I will explain this in detail. 716-553-6130
If you don't have your alarm manual, here's a pdf copy (see page 7)... . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Dave. I had to have a Porsche done once due to flooding. I just wonder if I can get the code from the guy I purchased it from. Naturally it is the weekend. May take you up on it. Bob
Thank you sir...Still having trouble getting a locksmith. Any way Ferrari can give me the Immobilizer PIN if I provide the S/N and proof of ownership? Fairly certain it is the original Immobilizer. Thanks Boaf
Bob - you can purchase the PIN retrieval for $350-$500. It takes time as it comes from Italy. No gurantee it will work coz somebody could have recoded and never reported back to Ferrari. You will need to send them a copy of the title with you name and address that matches your license exactly which you also need to send. Ferrari can also provide a key cut from the VIN with the same information and $350ish.
I would offer a $100 reward (maybe $200) for anyone who can find your keys and fob. Tell the wife, the kids and all their friends, neighbors ANYBODY. Online......anything and anywhere you can ........ It will be cheaper in the long run
You can get a new factory key through your dealer, who orders it from Ferrari. You just need your VIN, provide proof of ownership, and around $250. I ordered one through Livio at Algar earlier this year. If you have your original pin, you can order a set of fobs and new code, enter the code via your newly minted key, and away you go. If you don't have your original pin, then I would revert back to Dave's post about retrieval. And I would recommend you have your car towed home if out in the public domain.
To John's point: Yes, Livio at Algar is great and I don't believe the key comes from Italy (perhaps FNA in NJ) as it that comes pretty quick (a few days). I also got 2 keys thru Algar.
Bob, that won't matter. You will need your title. Livio is the man. And to Dave, Livio told me Italy. But to Dave's point, the keys do come fairly quick. And to ice the cake, the key will be the factory original key that you see on ebay uncut for $500+. The arriving key(s) will of course be cut to match your car.
Thanks John. I am from that area and Algar will be my PA dealer. I will ask specifically for Livio. My FL dealer (who will remain nameless) is not very helpful. Bob
Hey John - to get the PIN code, it will absolutely matter (at least id did with mine). Bob, you can probably show proof of the Florida residence... The spirit here is they want to give the PIN to the true owner so they make sure by requiring these documents.
Go to a locksmith who has some accu-readers to read your tumblers and make a key in 30 minutes Call ECU dr to get a alarm bypass Your back driving
Fortunately, I didn't have to go down the road of no PIN. I had the original sheet noting the PIN, and when I ordered the new fobs, they came with a similar sheet noting the new PIN.
Also look through all the Manuals and books in your binder, the small white 4X4" item in the picture has your PIN inside. The prior owner may have stashed it somewhere safe. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have the title transfer documents and the Dealer signature. I have not received the title yet. Hoping that this demonstrates proof of ownership. I am calling Ferrari NA (New Jersey) today to see if I can get the pin with photo copies of those documents. My dealer where I bought the car has a Locksmith guy who was suppose to call me Friday but never did. I believe he has a reader. Meantime, my 355 F1 Spider sits in a parking lot because I was smart enough not to drive home after feeling woozie. Arghhh Dave, thanks for the instructions. After I execute them, and hopefully it is the correct pin, I can use the key to lock and unlock the doors until new Fob's come in. So, in Summary: 1. need to get a new key at minimum to at least get into the car and take it out of gear. Of course the alarm will go off, (will disconnect the battery and re-connect) but at least I can get it towable. 2. Try to re-program to operate without the immobilizer. If not, needs tow 3. Order new FOB's (and Key if I cannot get this locksmith). Locksmiths are very anti Ferrari. 4. When Fobs come in, re-program the fob with the immobilizer. Thanks guys for helping me out through this challenging and upsetting time. Sad thing, my dealer was suppose to get me a spare key, and hadn't. Another venting storry later. Boaf
Hi John, yep it is in a public domain. My sticking point is that it is in gear and the car is locked, meaning I cannot get the bonnet opened to get the tow bar out of the tool kit. I don't want to damage the car but think if the tow-truck driver has tire jacks that can do the trick if he pulls it up from the rear suspension with Jacks. I am calling my insurance company today for a tow. Hopefully, my dealer get's his locksmith out today where I can meet him and deactivate the immobilizer via the PIN (if I can get that somehow. Alot of moving parts in this situation. Really upset but need to be calm. Thanks John, Boaf
