alfa has seemingly gone dark again. news has stopped regarding the giulia arrival in the dealerships...and of course, no pricing info whatsoever.

has anyone some guidance that I clearly do not?

Hang on, they're coming. Well over 400 US-spec launch stock 280hp Giulias have been already built since late October.

I heard they won't go to Dealer's until some shindig in New Orleans that happens in Late January. They are mandating every dealer employee attend or they won't ship the cars.

Launch Edition Quadrifoglios are in port (US) awaiting final Gov't approval before shipping. The base and Ti cars will be arrive after the January NOLA training event.

The Giulia range is broad (Gasoline and Diesel).

Which exact models do you consider as competition?

Also expect competitor models to have sold more units this year, as the Giulia is still relatively new on the market.

Looks like the Alfa might be eating away at Jaguar XE and Volvo sales?? If you add in the new markets(North America and rest of the world) and continue the Euro September rate they might just do some great numbers(well below what sweater man dreamed but still great). You should post Maserati overall Ghibli sales to see if the Giulia is causing a drop in their sales.

Also remember the Giulia's line-up is still rather limited.

Compare that to Audi and BMW with their Avant's/touring's (very popular in Europe), 4 cylinders, 6 cylinders, Quattro's, S's, Amg's etc.

I think all the QF's now are automatic.

I think one can be special ordered by my experience with Alfa dealers is "forget it" and will do whatever they can to discourage special orders.

I've posted this before. I'm sure the dealers had a strong hand in this decision.

Interesting, but not conclusive. The car that I think will eat into Ghibli sales is the Giulia Quadrifoglio V6 Turbo as they are in the same price range and both medium to large 4 door performance sedans.

Wow, how come those competitors more than double their sales in Oct? I mean last month they were just around thousands and this month around twelve thousand? What a explosive sales! Even the Jag double its sales from Sep 845-1772 Oct, I mean what happened? How did they increase that much in this month? It looked like only Giulia is decreasing in Oct :(

UK plate change. It's by far the largest market in Europe for D-segment premium sedans (saloons). At that moment Giulia still was not available in the UK market.

Those accumulated "9-month" figures listed are totally wrong.

e.g. accumulated 2016 European monthly sales for the leader Mercedes-Benz C-Class:-

    Jan - 12 319
    Feb - 10 823
    Mar - 18 961
    Apr - 14 959
    May - 14 456
    Jun - 16 821
    Jul - 14 138
    Aug - 11 180
    Sep - 21 063
    Oct - 12 766
    Total - 147 486

1st the Giulia is smaller than the Ghibli, think 3 Series vs 5 Series. Also at the price point the Ghibli is AWD vs Giulia being RWD only.

  23. ferraripete

true. also worth consideration, the ghibli (in the $75-80k) range weighs in @ approx. 370hp vs the Giulia @ approx. 510hp.

giulia will cut into some ghibli shoppers.

    Definitely.

True drivers will buy the Giulia and leave AWD to the wankers of the world.
