Ive always wanted more info on this ever since seeing some grainy shots (in CAR magazine 1987?), I believe that two were made but no idea of what differences (other than exterior) were made or the effects they had, would hope that this "ultimate" countach gained an aerodynamic advantage, even if the cooling gains were minimal. wonder if it was ever pushed (Valentino?) I believe the roof was wider, allowing a larger window opening, and the side vents were thermostatically controlled? If only I lived in Japan......
Just appeared in the UK - first registered 1 June 2016. From one of the summer auctions? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi I have no affiliations, but just in case if anyone is interested. There is Alpine CM630 for sale in local pages. Asking for 750 "Everything works, tidy, no scratches or bits missing, but of course not new. Part exchange 80's cassette player, Alpine Sparcomatic, Nakamichi" Cheers
That's LP500S ZA9C00500ELA12675. Looks good cruising London town against a backdrop of black cabs and a red bus!
Here is the auction info: 1984 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S | Coys of Kensington It sold for £253,800 ($363,250) https://news.classiccars.com/beatles-linked-jag-bush-brings-82400-auction/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
On the topic of the Countach wheels - are they magnesium and what would be a good cleaner for the baked on brake dust but which would not affect the finish or react with the metal?
Those would be magnesium, and the real issue you'll have is that the original paint is thin, it might even be lacquer so you are in danger of literally stripping it off if your cleaning application is too aggressive. The Campagnolo stickers should be within the dished face and not on the lip where the OZ stickers were later applied. Image Unavailable, Please Login
^ agree wrt thin paint. restorers tend to be overly generous when painting components in general. this often reults in a loss of detail.
I see this in the USA mostly. But it doesn't have to be that way, ergo the expression Sympathetic Restoration.
Hi guys i stumbled on this site today, with 437 hi rez Countach photos dont think its a repost enjoy. And it looks like you can add your own as well. https://en.wheelsage.org/lamborghini/countach/pictures/
Good resource. Lots of nice shots of recent cars that have been up for sale and or across the auction block.
The original radio is back in the car! And it works amazingly well... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
somebody posted a very nice collection of historic photos from Monaco among which lots of Lambos: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10208386957896448&set=a.1394347763922157&type=3&theater many many more Monaco and Lambo photos: https://www.facebook.com/pierre.pluquet.7/photos_albums
Thanks a lot! Love it too! Indeed it is a little bit useless, however, it is original equipment. This is why it is back in the car.
That's my attitude also. I don't think Mimran's special Alpine package will ever get used by me, but its in there and it works, in case someone asks for a demonstration!
I had to purchase a wheel a while back, but there is a slight difference in caliper clearance and colour, Is there a way of working out which wheel it is? im guessing the mag wheels are lighter, but how much?
Actually I was surprised by the good quality of the Alpine radio. Much better than I thought. Even though I won't use it that much! By the way, would be great to have some more pictures of the whole special Alpine package and why not a small video of it working!
Mag wheels would be lighter. What is the year of the wheel, and does it indicate on backside if its Campagnolo or Ozzetta?
My restorer sent me video of it working blaring out Huey Lewis and the News's The Power of Love circa 1986! I will take some pics and do a proper video but it's pointless operating that system anytime other than when the car is at standstill with the engine off because of the Supersport exhaust.
