Thanks to all for the information and interesting discussion. The photos above show some very interesting possibilities. All I can say is I would be pretty surprised if the motor had some kind of hybrid/ KERS system. On the side of no KERS is the motor is reportedly growing in displacement from 6.3 to 6.5l. And the "F12M" is an evolution model, not a whole new platform. There probably is some room inside the current V12 F140 for more power, especially if the capacity is growing. I could understand it if they could get KERS to work on this car. Its an existing platform which means less totally new areas (windows etc) and thus more focus on the new items. I would imagine a smaller V12... and then maybe going with a pure NA for the VS model? Apologies for the speculation, its fun!
Hey F12 guys, interesting to read your thread, at the moment the most exciting section on FChat! I wonder in general where the journey with the Ferrari V12 two seater front mid engine model goes. I do not see any more competitors following this concept. Ingenious of Ferrari or a dead end? When I see your enthusiasm, I guess the first.
I confirmed my "order" today and will receive written confirmation/contract tomorrow......im the 3rd person at the dealer which i work with.....
Can anyone think that Ferrari designs their cars with the Corvette in mind? It makes me laugh when people find a f12 similar to a corvette
For those that haven't seen the F12 berlinetta in person. It does look like to a C7 corvette in pictures. It looks nothing like it. I respect Chevy for their work but seeing it doesn't give you that AWE factor like the F12
+1 it's pathetic. Front engined sport coupe's all look alike if you look long enough. And last I checked, the F12 was 2 years ahead of the current Corvette!
It tends to be a cheap shot from people wanting to have a pop at F12 owners. It is front engine, it does have similarities with the side glass, and the front wheel arch does have a rising profile. Make your own mind up. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd say any similarity (and this could be said of many model classes) is more likely a case of pedestrian impact protection laws forcing the shape of the front end and take of the windscreen than Ferrari taking this cue from the Corvette Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good pic. Any more? Bit less camo - you can see the new side mirror housing design mimics (mirrors? ;-) the shape of the scallop on the side of the car as drawn by me, leading me to believe that what I drew is pretty close. Also, the vertical strake (red) visible out at the edge of the bumper, I now suspect will be similar to the winglets on tdf.
Beautiful car that! Still Pininfarina, yes? That grille shape was the going-in plan on the original F12 - it's clearly visible on the design video of the F12, where they show them adding styling clay over this to create the final F12 shape. The vent on the upper part of the fender has that crease running back into the door and a similar crease is visible on the F12M mules, so expect a vent there, as I drew. I drew the vent without the black "flap", though this could make it on F12M, especially as it can eventually be made to be an optional ($$) carbon add-on.
So great to see Ferrari increasing the displacement of its flagship engine. That's a great achievement considering the downsizing trend. 6.5 is enormous for a v12. One of the biggest among the modern automotive production !! Zonda, One-77and SL73 are the only exemples of bigger V12's that come to my mind 6.5 High revolving engine... Ferrari forever.
Ferrari have been putting twin tail lights on their front engined V12 cars for a long time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
