Ferrarichat has all threads bold - normally this only happens for new threads not read since your last visit, so you may want to investigate. Something is definitely odd. So I don't know what the experiment is but I don't like this change... Please return it to the normal way we visit. Feel free to ask feedback from F1 power users and weigh that over those with less than 50 posts... Robb
I'm fine with the new changes, re: previously read posts. What about what I suggested earlier, is it possible with our software:
Yeah, so. I shouldn't have made promises about vBulletin. Apparently everybody (including me) warped their "Read status" back a couple of days. Sorry about that, folks. I haven't seen that on any other forum that made the switch. vBulletin 4.x as a software is really a bit undermaintained these days. It seems to be working fine for read status from that point forward, though.
I may have overreacted. It seems if you "mark forum read" all is well and goes back to normal. So, at this time, I'm cool with it
Tried this; didn't work. Everything from that point in time is marked as read, but not going forward when I re-log in. This new change is not pleasant. I don't want to see a whole page of bolded threads just because I didn't click on them last time I signed in with a few non-bolded threads spread around in there. Mark
I was initially thinking the same but what I do now works pretty well. After I visit my usual 5 or 6 forums (e.g. Owners, Rossa, Silver, P&R, 550, Mid-Atlantic, etc), I then hit the "Mark Forums Read" action again. This clears everything as I leave fchat so that, the next time I come back, only the new or updated threads are bolded. .
Would this be a test for setting the MINIMUM IQ allowed in P&R? Or, perhaps it would be to limit the MAXIMUM IQ allowed in there?
I will, when I remember to hit, but why the change? It's kind of a nuisance that was never required in the past. It almost feels like when the office takes away a perk you've always had. Mark
I like the change because I don't lose "Read status" in my UserCP on 20 threads that I want to visit later, just because I touched the forum in any way (e.g. to read a p.m. or as a result of a google search). Out of curiosity, do you use the UserCP?
To tell the truth it is a little bit 'uncomfortable' and not so pleasant but as you suggest..'mark forums read' is a solution, at least for now. Btw your California looks beautiful!
I saw this suggestion by Dud and endorsed it to Rob via PM: The problem I was having was that, like Dud, every time I looked at a PM via Tapatalk (viewed directly, not through UserCP) or logged in to see one specific update, the forum would mark everything in the UserCP as read and take them off the displayed list. So far, the settings change has fixed that issue. All the best, Andrew.
Again, I apologize for vBulletin marking everything unread (as opposed to moving on from the then-current state). I would kindly ask to judge this configuration change after the one-time flood of old threads (that you actually did read) is over. From then forward you should see more benefit than annoyance from this. Those who use the UserCP (and thread subscriptions) should see a very clear improvement, because now you can (if you so choose) follow threads seeing every post. Even if on that day you do not have time to visit every subscribed thread. Without this configuration change you are forced to visit every thread you are subscribed to in the UserCP. If you do not "get it one" in one sweep you will lose the position marker of where you last read those thread every time you touch the forum in any way.
This division is just too massive. Thirty or forty new (or bumped) items every day. I suggest: 1 - Original Ferrari Parts 2 - Aftermarket Parts that fit Ferrari Cars 3 - Collectibles and Other Items
I think attaching photos could work better. It happend more than once that I can only add one picture at a time. (Win10 + Chrome)
I'm not very computer "savvy" at all. I don't like changes once I'm used to the old system, which worked fine for me. But not a big deal.
Attaching multiple pictures at a time plus allowing for higher resolutions would help things, but there has been a lot of push back in the past. It's best to just post Instagram, Facebook, etc links IMO.
You can attach multiple pictures at a time, I've never had a problem doing it. Are you trying to do it from mobile devices and encountering problems? Posted links can break and then the conversation becomes nonsensical years later. Always better to upload to the site directly. All the best, Andrew.
I don't like the latest settings on unread threads. I like the old way. But a positive suggestion would be to make photo size larger. Robb
Or just divide the classifieds into car sections and have one section for general Ferrari collectibles/misc.
