+1 If it weren't for threads like these, along with f1 vs gated debates, and a hundred questions regarding sticky interiors and flat batteries, this place would be pretty dead.
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/206-246/299253-up-down-vote-246gt-s-ferrari.html Dear Sir GiveMeSomethingICanUse please go take the poll put in your penny's worth please keep on writing without breaks in Dinoland we are not argumentative about writing styles Regards Alberto
It is certainly a ferrari when i open the door on my dino it clearly has a plate that says MANUFACTURED BY FERRARI MOTOR COMPANY
Thanks for the support guys, I understand that people, particularly the ones who are owners get emotional about this. I went to place my vote in the Dino-poll (thank you for the heads up, Alberto!). I have a feeling the poll is largely influenced by the fact that it is in the sub forum of the 206/246. I imagine the vast majority of people who frequent that section are somewhat biased. Either way I agree with "I am 360 Canuck" - controversial opinions are necessary to make any community interesting. This is a place where we discuss our passion for the cars. The 488 has been under a lot of criticism from customers and enthusiasts who simply don't like the sound of the car now that Ferrari has turbocharged them. Say what you want about it, but it certainly has created a heated discussion and generated a lot of activity. With the Dino/Ferrari topic I created here I was simply curious what the current consensus was, if there was still controversy surrounding it, as well as adding my 2 cents to the discussion. I guess I offended a few people in the process, which by the way I assure you was not my agenda at all. I am a passionate Ferrari enthusiast. I have owned two myself (and the F355 briefly for a week before I changed my mind and got the 360 which I later sold and replaced with a 458). I love their cars and the company and visited the ferrari museum and factory last year. It's not in my personality to sugar coat and be overly polite to people just for the sake of keeping peace, however. There are those who live by the "if you can't say anything positive, say nothing at all" mentality. Obviously this holds value in real life, but on a forum I fail to see the productive value of it. We would never discuss anything on a truly deep and emotional level. I strongly believe the uproar on this forum surrounding the 488 and the lackluster sound has had a positive impact on Ferrari. They need feedback from customers and this place is a goldmine of information.
Dinos are not Ferrari, they are better! I'n all seriousness, same factory, same engineers, same dealerships. Last I checked Ferrari offers classiche certification for it, not so much for Lancia/Fiat derivatives. People that argue one way or another are splitting hairs Don't be that guy that shows up at a Cars and Coffee and argues an Acura NSX really is just a Honda NSX or vice versa. All that matters is the NSX is a great car that can be called a Honda AND an Acura..does it matter what one person considers it? Just Drive it dammit!
What school teaches that ^ idiotic writing style? Please help us out here so that we don't waste our money by sending our kids to the college of your choice.
I forgot to add, this ^ is indeed a troll post. "Agree to include as one of our own... or quietly disown..." You can't be serious.
You have way too much free time on your hand judging by the number of posts on this site, and the fact that you choose to spend it dissing a Ferrari chat member for his text formatting. I have always done things my way and it has worked out quite well for me in my life. Judging by your garage inventory you seem to have no problems wasting money. Please pick on someone else, Wade.
I also fail to see what education has to do with ones writing style. Do you really believe someone's writing style is reflective of their academic ability or any other abilities that determine success in life? If so that's some really narrow minded thinking on your part. Hopefully you don't teach your kids that sort of unnecessary and counter productive constraint. Starting to think the stereotype of Ferrari owners really is true. You know, the older guys in their Ferrari hats and jackets, with a pedantic and elitist old school mindset. Maybe I don't fit into your little club. I never liked conformity and I sure as hell am not going to conform to this level of snobbery and petty thinking to satisfy your prerequisites for acceptance.
I read this thread out of boredom and ......... ......um, Ferrari is Dino, Dino is Ferrari, and BMW owns: Mini and Rolls Royce. Fiat owns: Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Ram and SRT. Ford Motor Company owns: Lincoln and a small stake in Mazda. General Motors owns: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. GM owns a controlling interest in Opel and Vauxhall in Europe and Holden in Australia. (The U.S. Treasury Department is in the process of selling off the remaining GM stock holidngs.) Honda owns: Acura. Hyundai owns: Kia. Tata Motors (India) owns: Jaguar and Land Rover. Mazda mostly independently owned (Ford has small stake) Mitsubishi is independently owned. Daimler AG owns: Mercedes-Benz and Smart. Nissan owns: Infiniti. (Nissan, in turn, is owned by Renault.) Saab is owned by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS). Subaru: Owned by Fuji Heavy Industries with Toyota a minority partner. Tesla: Toyota is a minority partner. Partnership with Daimler AG. Toyota Motor Company owns: Lexus, Scion, Daihatsu and Hino Motors, with a stake in Fuji Industries (Subaru's parent company) and Isuzu. Volkswagen owns: Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, and overseas-brands SEAT and Skoda. Volvo is owned by Chinese-automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, aka Geely. Wade has been posting for 11 years or so, that is why he has alot. God is great,Beer is good and people are Crazy. "Drop mic"
does that mean a BMW is a Rolls Royce, or a Rolls Royce is a BMW? Or a Mini?? so a Ferrari is a design mate with a Durango? They're all just Fiats? geez, I could go on all day with this. Your points of order here lack substance. Are these cars assembled on the same production lines in all of the above cited examples? If so, then one could argue they're all the same car/brand. Many share parts and structure, those could be as well. BUT, the Dino had it's own assembly line, and used bitsa parts from several Fiat and Ferrari assemblies, along with many parts particular to itself from several 3rd party suppliers. Hell, it had Lucas fans for the radiators, if my memory serves me correctly. Doe that mean it's an MGB? I've deleted the rest of the post for brevity's sake. Well, except none of this drivel addresses the question, or is that the point? The question itself is drivel, posed dozens of times here, and perhaps tens of thousands of times over brand after brand since the dawn of automotive time? Look fellas, it isn't a Ferrari, it's a Dino, it's unique, it is different and better. It was intended to be it's own brand, not a model within the Ferrari brand. They had their own dealership signs, they had their own brochures that proclaimed them, "almost a Ferrari" and they cost fractions of what a new Ferrari cost at the time, hence the desire to establish them as their own brand. Nothing to be ashamed of, I proudly owned mine for years, and never gave a rat's ass if it was a Ferrari or not. I just knew it was beautiful and a blast to drive, and that was enough for me. D
I'd suggest Rob provide a subscription refund and we can all get back to our normal civility. Both Alden and Wade have been contributing members of this community long enough to command a little more respect. A "Dino", whether 246, 206, 308 is whatever you want it to be. But for heavens sake, Dino's surname was Ferrari.
Are you asking me to respect someone who just lashed out at me for my writing style? Why do you feel that sort of behavior commands respect? You can say what you want about me and I won't really mind, but I will retort - don't be surprised by that. You have enough experience in life to know this is human interaction 101. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, if you have any left. I think the 206/246 are very beautiful cars, but they aren't Ferrari's in my opinion. Why don't you old timers get off your high horses and show some class and respect for other people's opinions. It goes both ways you know. Let's make a deal, how about you prunes stop reading and responding to my posts, and I'll ignore yours whenever they come up. And Wade, if you're in California, any time your kids want a ride in a modern day Ferrari, let me know. Maybe they'll be inspired to pursue their own dreams and break out of the conformity and obstinacy that limit most people from ever becoming much more than another sheep in the herd. Success comes in many shapes and forms. Open your eyes and appreciate people who dare to be different. It is precisely what made Ferrari what it is.
And let me guess, Emily Post for manners? The year is 2016, Ross. Dale Carnegie died 70 years ago. Time to update your references. I didn't come on this forum to make friends, I have quite enough friends already, and even if I did come here for that, I have no interest in the friendships of such uptight old men anyway.
You assume too much. For example, I bought a Mondial instead of a 328 because I wanted to share my Ferrari experiences with my grandsons. Turns out, they hate cars. But thanks anyway.
Interestingly enough, isn't sweater man planning the "new" Dino? Ferrari Dino Could Return In 2019 As A 2+2 Coupe - autoevolution Also, it's interesting that some folks at first replaced the Dino badges with Ferrari, and now many people are doing the opposite! Like I said, the easiest answer has always been: It's both. It's a Ferrari and a Dino. Roll your own - call it what you like, a Ferrari, a Dino. People in the past have disparagingly called it a "Fiat" - All I know is it's an awesome car, and even if people called it a Fiat today, I would be proud to own and drive that 'Fiat'
But this begs a question, whats a Dino? a lot of ppl don't know that. But everyone knows a Ferrari. Im excited by a "new" Dino model....but when I picture it, all I get is a lotus evora variant, or a mini 360.
In my opinion, which doesn't mean much, this is a silly question. The 206/246 is one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. It's made by Ferrari. It's named after Enzo's son. Who cares what's it's called? I'd love to have one, or two, or a garage full of them!! Sid
If any Dino owner is worried about his car being a real Ferrari or not, he could easily trade it for a small collection of "real" Ferraris. Let's see... an excellent Dino 246 GTS is $300k-$400k, so that's a Testarossa AND and a 308 GTSi AND a F355 AND a 550 Maranello, for example. Personally, I'd rather have the Dino. And this thread is silly.
