young people, designers and engineers with respect and high knowledge of the history of ferrari. Congratulations Mr Militello and all the others for Keeping the myth alive.
We had already talked about this car here... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/458-italia-488/538324-ferrari-fj50.html
Yes, it is becoming more and more obvious that a lot of SP cars are test beds for new design elements. What I find most interesting about this car is that it has a completely new set of headlights in the front. I thought headlight change was a no no for SP cars. Has this changed?
Good point. Perhaps one small difference is this car, like the F60 America, is a limited series (10 units) as opposed to a one off and that gives Ferrari some room to make new headlights, which AFAIK, have to be re-certified. I believe the headlights used on the F60 are unique as well, at least they are variations of the F12 headlights. -F
I think you're wrong. The front is ispired by the pininfarina Sergio concept car: SERGIO < Pininfarina Image Unavailable, Please Login
The visual drama of FJ50 makes the 488 spider look ordinary in comparison. This should have been the design for the 488/488 spider. It hinted many of the Pininferina touches, e.g., the side air vents being integrated into the body design. Symboic of a new Ferrari tradition...Well done!
Great design..finally taking advantage of the fact that new technology headlights can be smaller. IE instead of those hug pieces of plastic on many of the modern cars.
So..... If they are only making 10 and the 10 are for Japan and Japan uses RHD cars why is this car LHD?
Absolutely. I have the same theory. Those special projects are in fact some concept cars. I'm absolutely convinced the P540 Superfast was used in the développement of the SA perta (Open roof) , the F12 (General design) and the 599 GTO (Diffusor)
Because all Japanese actually want an LHD, they consider that more European and hence more fashionable. Marcel Massini
you guys are looking its inspiration from mclaren and sergio? actually it's inspired by ferrari tensostruttura connept, which was designed in 2011. http://cdn29.us1.fansshare.com/pictures/ferrari/ferrari-tensostruttura-concept-photo-2062665327.jpg http://www.tyler360.nl/wp-content/gallery/ferrari-laferrari-special-museum/ferrari-laferrari-maranello-2013-special-5.jpg
Most, if not all, exotics in Japan are left hand drive. My 550 Maranello is from Japan. Also LHD, and I've never seen a RHD one for sale there. It's a cultural thing. It's symbolizes the cars exotic nature because it doesn't fit the normal driving position. This is great for us Canadians who can import them after 15 years.
It's beautiful! Fresh design even if we can see where many of the ideas came from. I love the details. The TRUE problem for Japanese use is where will they put the front plate? Or else they will be shown in collection-museums...
Exactly! I never understood why Ferrari doesn't take front plates into account when designing cars. Their only excuse may be that they are thinking of US market only??? But then on this particular car, IF it is indeed sold to Japanese customers only, then it's a really stupid move, especially when you know how big Japanese plates are (and you can't make it smaller like you can in Europe).
And there it is: Ferrari showing it has limited looks that it keeps reusing. Doesn't make the next car less "exotic". Just less original. This car also boasts LaF sides and the little winglets forward of the rear wheel reminds me of the nolder on the Speciale. Best
The pic Milanno linked to with the J50 is black is just out of this world! I pray that the design language we are seeing here foretells the near future. I'm floored.
