another ferrari I love which I'm not allowed to buy.
I think Ferrari should be more carefull with the sp program and some limited series, most of them are not worthy of carrying the brand's name. AS for the sp projects, i would say that the f12 TRS and the 458 MM are both amazing, but the rest are simply vulgar and in some cases really bad. As for production cars, the F12 is a true masterpiece, the 488 is a beautifull car but obviously just an evolution of the 458 (just like the 328 from the 308), so it caused a lot less impact. The Lusso is IMO a bad concept, the front is ok but not the back, it loses originality in relation to the FF wich already was a bit controversial. AS for the J50, to me it's about the worst design i've seen from Ferrari in a very long time. It has some nice elements but overall seems like a patchwork and it really doesnt work. the back i'm more or less ok with, but the front simply isn't a Ferrari...if you took the badges away from it, nobody would identify it with a ferrari, and to me that's bad and it shows the design was flawed. This being said, i'm pretty sure it will look very atractive to most japanese buyers, wich might not be a good thing!!
To all who said that the 488 made the 458 look obsolete-----the FJ 50 makes the 488 look obsolete, and it's a relatively new model! I don't think I've ever seen an SP model that was so divergent from the car upon which it was based. Bravo Ferrari design staff! Any PF alumni on it? Designer Militello looks quite young, but maybe PF design was an inspiration for this master work. Fred
It happens, not that big a deal. Even back in the 60's, design elements from the show cars and one off's would be recycled into production models. And besides, originality is less important than just being plain old good. C'mon people, this car is awesome! (If a little on the busy side.) It's like a mini, more exclusive version of the La Ferrari Aperta. -F Image Unavailable, Please Login
I guess you either love it or hate it. I personally love it. In my world, its another Ferrari I wouldn't be able to afford to buy if they would let me yet still love it.
God I hope so. I'm so tired of headlamps stretching towards the a-pillars on Ferraris. Most definitely - do not appreciate the step-ladder look on the standard cars. Rather than quote them all, I'd echo every single other positive comment here. This thing is a masterpiece and its only shame is that they will build just 10. Hopefully its a solid indication of what we can expect going forward from Manzoni and his team within the Ferrari Style Center though. Bravo! >8^) ER
I think this is one of the best looking cars in a limited run category. Looks like a mean little LaFerrari. Looks much better than the car Eric Clapton had them build and he paid over $4 million.
As I tell many people that have great ideas. Start your own company and dominate the industry. Good luck designing and building cars. I look forward to seeing the new revolutionary designs.
That Clapton thing was a pretty big nope from me. I did like the paint throwback, with the dark grey lower. But it looked bulky and inflated in comparison to the sleek toned 512 BBI. It's remarkable how tapering in the original 488 nose shortens the impression of the front overhang and adds a dive and hunch to the stance of the J50. As someone said it sort of dates the existing new model which is a real feat. Image Unavailable, Please Login

If they told me this was the next-gen 458/488 I'd be more than cool with it. Expecting big things for actual next-gen. Possibly F12M will give us an idea of where things are headed...
I completely agree with you on all points. I was trying to point out that people should pay more attention to the one offs and SP cars to find Ferrari's design direction. Too often they discuss or Photoshop other existing model's design cues to predict the "next" car. I would opine that the design cues are already out there if one just looks. The LaF sides taken from the above concept car and the front of the concept car aped on the J50 are examples of what I am saying. Definitely not complaining about the design. As I said previously, I had pictured this design for the 458's LE model. Obviously I was only partially correct. It was saved for the 488 and it was a VERY LE design. Not just an LE car. Best
If you don't agree with my opionion that's your problem, you don't have to like it, as i can tell, most fchatters seem to love it, some others don't, that's fine by me, that won't change my mind, and it shouldn't bother you either.
I did this up in Photoshop just now for fun (reckoned I could better that mockup above) click for higher res Image Unavailable, Please Login

Three things would make me buy this car. A- I was asked by the company to purchase this car B- I had the money to buy the car C- It really is beautiful. Other than that, not sure I will have the chance to pick one up. But I do like it.

i know i am late to comment but does anyone see the resemblance of one of the lafe concept in this car? not exactly the same but the front shape reminds me of that.
