Euro QV? I don't think so based on full VIN.

Oops, sorry everyone. I was looking at a Euro model with a new interior thinking what a beautiful car, and mixed them up.

This Frankenstein Ferrari Looks fun, provided you could get past the Chevy rumble, but for $60,000? I'm sure he has a bazillion dollars in it if his time is worth anything but clear title or not, I would be all in in the mid $20ks. :) Hats off to him though! Would be a very boring world if we didn't mix it up some.

I'm a little disappointed by the AutoCheck report. No accidents, salvage, etc. and no history before 2007. Wonder what the real story is?

Love the longitudinal engine placement, but I'd want to have a close look at the installation/modification. My first blush from the photos is that the drive axles are angled so far forward (like 15 degrees because the wheelbase has not been lengthened like a 288) that the suspension up-down motion might be compromised/hindered. Just an observation...

Nice job but I would have liked to see maybe an LS1 , 2 or 3 engine.

In my opinion and I'm not a purist. You could have turbo charged the Ferrari engine and had plenty of horsepower and better drivabilty. Now you have a butchered 308 with a carbureted small block. Not to mention the vast amount of work it took to get the chevy engine in there. I have a turbo 308qv. Just my 2 cents.

Mystery solved..... I recently bought this car after much consideration. With prices getting ridiculous on these 308s, I think it's a great value. It's a solidly modified car and not at all 'butchered.' After much research, I've been able to track down the man who did this Mod and I feel better knowing why he did what he did and how Ferrari meets GM and German engineering in the back end.

As noted in these post, I agree that an LS3 would have been a great choice so why a GEN I, Chevy small block?? (Heck, I wish he went back with the Ferrari engine and just supercharged it)! Because this gentlemen grew up in an era where these motors were revered and having gown up with them, he was familiar and comfortable using it. The internals in this motor are outstanding. Also, when he took on this project, these 308s were worth in the mid $20K, putting another $30K into it didn't make financial sense.

As several have pointed out, the transaxle angle is a concern but I'm looking at solving that problem with Fortin or Bates CV boots, the same Porcshe 930 boots that a lot of off-road buggies are using to take the extreme beating. Fortin also makes heavy duty joints.

I'm going to enjoy the car, and then see what prices do. I may slowly bring it back to all Ferrari (big ???? as I don't want to spend F430 dollars when it's not a 430) or I may keep it as is with only minor changes such as putting an Edelbrock, fuel-injected system (pro flo 3). I must confess though, I regret not hearing the Ferrari rumble. Corsa makes a really nice muffler that can drastically alter the muscle car tone so I'm hoping to at least get a better sound without being cheesy.

Do you know what happened with/to the original engine ? Professionally done or not, the problem is when removing a Ferrari engine out of a Ferrari, (which absolutely makes no sense to me whatsoever) the car isn't a Ferrari anymore. It just isn't.... And I find that a pity.

Did this car ever live in Alabama in the 80's?

Even though I am a purist when it comes to how I maintain my car, I completely agree with you.
