Does anyone know where this item (number 17 on the photo) is meant to be stuck to?

    It's a relay label.

It's in the 1980 parts book but can't see where it's meant to be on the car.[IMG]

    Many thanks.

Perhaps the relay board is meant to have a plastic cover like the two fuse boards? But no cover is shown in the parts book...

This is what that part 17 plate looks like in real life. [IMG]

It goes on the back of the vinyl cover to the fuses and relays. The cover that attaches to the dash with tenax fasteners (maybe Velcro on later cars). It's vinyl on the front to match the dash and fabric on the back. This big label is stuck to the fabric side.

Thanks very much Dflett, next time you are with you car do you mind taking a photo? My 308 OCD means I need to stick it in the right place as per factory!

I was surprised this was stuck to the fabric as the bond would be that good. But now I think about it there would be no other place for it.

    Much appreciated...

Will do. I'm snowed in today anyway. I checked my photos last night and it must be the only 10 square inches of the car I don't have a photo of.

You're a gent, thank you. Not the most exciting part of the 308 hence then lack of photo!

You are a legend, thank you so much. With dims too! I'm overwhelmed by the comradeship on this forum, I hope to be able to contribute in some way in time...

Anyway, on with the relay plate.

I noticed your cover has two Tenax snaps. I have a 78 GTS and it only has one along the left end (Driver's side). No bottom snap. The other end fits into a groove along the side.

Can any one with a 78 GTS check this out. Could be another subtle difference between GTB and GTS models. And why would there be a difference between the attachment points?

Here is mine before restoration. (Brown/orange color is glue residue, not rust).

The design did change away from the two tenax fasteners but I thought it was after 78... 1980 perhaps with the updated interior.

P.S. If anyone needs new Tenax fasteners they can be had from EagleDay.com

They changed to velcro, perhaps around 1980 as dflett suggested, then in very late 1984 changed back to two Tenax fasteners.

It's also worth noting that there will be different relay layouts and associated diagrams - possibly different by years, but also different by Euro or US. My Euro QV, for example, does not have seatbelt buzzers, so won't have the seatbelt buzzer relay shown on the label picture a few posts up.

So we have both one tenax and two tenax at the end of 1978.

Maybe they had a stack of pre-built dashes somewhere so there is no single changeover.
