As previously mentioned in my Neiman key blank reproduction thread: Neiman key blank https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eferrarichat%2Ecom%2Fforum%2Fshowthread%2Ephp%3Ft%3D503283&share_tid=503283&share_fid=9080&share_type=t The Torino/SAFE keys are on their way. First test of "8" passed, need to test others first. So, there are still subtle differences compare with the original. Stay tuned...
your Neiman ones are GREAT, not just a daily use key. I guess this SAFE will be the same Great work! ciao
Thanks Alberto! I intend to sell them similarly but a bit higher priced than the Neiman blanks as the tooling and mould costs are higher due to 4 keys involved. We will see.
Can you tell me what the '8' is for? As can you see, I have this blank with the 8, but my SAFE key number starts with a 2. Are they different and why to they have this prefix number if not? Thanks, will be interested in the right key from you if so! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They have different key shaft profiles. An 8 key cannot be inserted into the key hole for a 2 key. So you must get the key blank with correct shaft profile to work.
Hi piezo Would you be able to PM me when you have the number 2 keys ready? Much appreciated and thanks for making these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice work! Excited for these as your first efforts were fantastic and I'm so glad to have some spares. Keeping tuned... Warren.
I've got to ask a dumb question, but since I don't have an original SAFE Torino key for my 71 Dino, how do I determine whether it needs a `2', a `4', a `6' or an `8' type key blank? I'll be interested in buying a few of the version I need, but...
By looking at the key shaft profile of your key. 2: 4: 6: 8: 2 and 4 are mirrored; 6 and 8 are mirrored. To tell apart 2/4 from 6/8. Draw a central line from the head of the key to the tip of the key, you will notice this line will cut across the groove of 6/8 but not 2/4. Or you can just look at the tip of the key if it's not too worn out. The groove will cut a portion of the tip for 6/8; while the key groove for 2/4 will not or just barely touches the tip. The tip of 6/8: The tip of 2: Some pictures grabbed from the web.
Love the fact that a "2" on the key is type SF1 (vs, oh perhaps SF2 to make it a little more clear!). My non-SAFE dupe that came with the car does have SF1 on it and the pattern appears to match the "2" photo, so I will be a buyer of a few "2"'s. Mystery solved! Thanks!
Well, the wait is finally over. I'll list those requested already tomorrow. If you need or want some blanks, you can PM me.
