I got tired of the clock displaying in 24 hours format, so I decided to do something about it. Here are the modifications to change it to display 12 hour format.

Warning! This is a very delicate modification. The chip pins are very fragile and breaks off easily. A new clock will set you back about $400.00. If you're competent in repairing electronic circuits or is one of those people that likes to live fearlessly, then proceed and enjoy!

I guess you need some very small side cutters to cut that leg on the chip from the PCB.

A hobby Exacto knife will do, but use a new blade. With a dull blade, you'll have to put more pressure to do the cut and that increases the risk of breaking the pin off the chips' body.

I neglected to mention that the chip is a Philips PCF1178CT. Verify this with the manufacture ID on the chip before you do the mod. Otherwise you will burn out the clock chip. Here's the chip spec sheet.

My 575M is a 12 hour and I would prefer 24 hour, but then I was in the military quite a while.

Nice mod to get what you wanted.

I'm glad it worked out for you! Ferrari could of sold this mod as an $1,000.00 option. ;)

Welcome to the forum! Reading posting #1 would be a good start. If you do not understand it, I strongly recommend that you do not proceed with this modification. Good luck!

Thank you, Eddie. This mod would not be necessary if Ferrari would just add a 10 cents SPDT switch to the design. :)

Well it has been a few years since I said I was going to do this clock mod. I recently had to remove the interior to remove my dashboard and have the leather replaced.

I opened the clock module and see that it does not look the same as the pix in this post. There is no IC chip! I can't believe Ferrari (the clock supplier) updated the clock. My 360 is a 2001. Looking at my clock circuit board, it looks like it uses a oscillator instead of a IC? If anyone knows if there is a work around for this, that would be great. Otherwise I got screwed and will have to live with the 24 hr display.

Still a big thanks to mello !!!!!!!

My guess is you have a coupe as the spider is configured differently. I don't know why they would use a different design though.

I'm former military and love the 24 HR format in the cockpit of my Spider. Perfect.
