Really? S&P has just hit record highs, even Europe has joined in. Apart from a few defensive assets like gold, and most risky assets has performed in 2016. Real estate this year depends on where you live. Too early to cry wolf I would say. Unless of course you missed the rally....

Agreed. I'm thinking circa £300k specced reasonably.

Because some markets heavily penalise large displacement engines such as China

Maybe Ferrari should make a F12M(C) for that market. Slap V8/V6 whatever they need to but leave N/A V12 screamers for us. I mean its ridiculous that they are doing this to avoid gas guzzler taxes or penalties or whatever.

If I am spending all this money year after year on these cars that I love, those paltry taxes mean nothing to me. Pass it on and let me handle it. I bet there are very few real buyers that would pass on a V12 vs a V8TT because of penalities. Most complainers seem to be NON-Buyers.

Leave the N/A V12s alone is what I say.

    Sorry for the rant.

If taxes had a significant impact on demand, I expect they would indeed do that e.g the 208/208 turbo back in the early 80's for the Italian market when 2 litres was the threshold. They were only sold in Italy (and possibly NZ) and the regular 308s for the rest of the world. LussoT etc, however, are an attempt to bring in a new layer of clients globally at a lower price point.

I know about that. But as long as the Cali is in the lineup, what's the point? Cheaper front engine V8 car? It's there, so why make another?

Doubt very much most dealers know the full extent of their total allocations now, always been some room for new business and walk ins - at least here in Europe.

Ferrari won't offer the tt v8 in the M. If taxes are such a big issue, potential customers wouldn't be able to afford an F12 in the first place.

Why on earth would Ferrari lauch an F12 light!

The thing to remember is we are mainly geeks and enthusiasts. Many target markets have "copy" tastes and no provenance. They drink Haut Brion with Coca Cola. Tax effective V8TT in a flagship body ideal.

That is quite a narrow minded and bigotted statement. The Chinese have well developed sense of art and taste based on my experience of living there for over 10 years. The nouveau riche are no different to any other market - they like showing off. Just remember the streets of London during the boom years when every other banker, lawyer and accountant was flashing his cash in a 911.

My dealer is basing his 'sold out' status on the same number of Ms as F12Bs he received. That seems to me to me to be a logical approach. But you are correct, he has not been officially told his allocation yet.

Clearly one sees the world from their location - in the U.K. prestige real estate has collapses, equity markets high as desperation for yield, only cars scrambled for are those with speculative element and if financed to hilt. Massive pension shortfalls and governments running Ponzi schemes. Unless "the powers that be" have a Plan B (they are not even close to having the courage) the outlook is grim.

That's before you get in to the bottom 20pc of Western employees being automated away.

Nothing new in this and arguably should jus enjoy but naive to "believe it".

The outlook here in the US is the most positive it has been in over a decade or more. 2017 will be a banner year in the US. I suspect some of that positive sentiment will filter down to Europe.

I agree, albeit I feel the contemporary LE market is struggling and more rate rises cannot help it, but then again everything Scraggy says is also true. Expert can kickers all Governmenets are.

Truth is as some said I am in a minority and wrong but by definition nearly every problem has been identified by minorities - if majority got it we would not have 2008 etc.

Re US hope so as I am highly exposed to the US, and with a figure head who is measured, experienced and statesman like what's to fear !

Anyway back to F12 M, UK dealer visits are second week Feb, does anyone know if its a big bash like Como GTC or sneak previews, factory tours etc for best clients ?

My current understanding is that it is not one big bash but a series of days similar to the Speciale launch.
