Go have that debate with a cop in the UK. Go tell him Hoosier R7s are street legal. He will say, "street legal tyres require a minimum of 1.6mm tread depth across the centre 3/4 of the tyre, which this tyre does no have. £400 fine and 12 points. You are banned."
There was an F1 with an MSO suspension that lapped Bedford West faster than an Enzo. But certainly with stock suspension, it would struggle because that was setup for comfort not speed. That time is also effectively a 7:06 because it's 7:11 for the 20.8km circuit if the statement is correct.
And they only said it did under 7 minutes. Anyone believe a P1 is slower than an Aventador SV, even when on Trofeos? Nope, therefore not really contentious in any way.
Garbage, bears the McLaren badge and regarded officially, and by insurance companies as a stock McLaren model.
I tend to agree, not sure where that figure came from. In fact, didn't someone do a half-hearted lap in an actual Formula 1 car? Maybe that was it. Or wasn't that actually Williams on second thoughts?
Look, the P1 is made by McLaren, the P1 GTR is made by McLaren, the P1 LM is an homologated P1 GTR. McLaren used Lazante for the homologation because it already had experience of adapting P1 GTRs and F1 GTRs for road use. If the old GT1 classification in endurance racing still existed we wouldn't even be having this retarded argument but because endurance racing went retarded with LMP categories, we now have a retarded argument. A manufacturer employing an outside body in an official capacity is nothing new and is not the same as an outside body taking a car of their own accord, post sale and performing a modification. E.g. Escort RS Cosworth - Production car. GGR Stage 3 Escort RS Cosworth - Modified post sale, tuner car.
Ferrari should really make a LaF speciale and send everybody back to school. The regular LaF could be so much faster than the oter two with just a bit more downforce, stiffer springs and grippier tyres IMO
The McLaren F1 did a 1.55.9 at Estoril when the track was faster than today. Today a Corvette ZR1 did 1.56.4 on a slower track. So the car seems to be really slower than the Vette on a common track.
Yes, but this does explain that on a common flat track with constant corners like Estoril is, the F1 seems to be already in difficulty. Think it at the Ring.
What's your source? I haven't heard one person make this claim, people who have driven both are remaining silent on the matter and for both of them to be driven back to back would be pretty odd.
On the subject of magazine laps and how damn bad they are. Alexander West - Anglesey International GP, 1:21 behind 918, then 1:19 with no 918 in front. Corsa tyres and passenger (3:09-4:28). Pure comedy. Note the large hairpin, about 20s difference between this configuration and coastal. http://media.fastestlaps.com/uubi1hppuuct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpfEG3meAU0
Alexander West takes his LaFerrari FXX K and P1 GTR to Silverstone GP - FastestLaps.com Of course the excuses will rain in on both these videos, because the McLaren is not allowed to be faster.
Nothing can touch Stefan Bellofs lap of the Ring in a Porsche, so by others established rules I can safely say that Porsches must be able to lap minutes quicker than a McLaren who NEVER released any time. As for the claim that McLaren built the P1 LM, maybe they did, I don't know enough to make an answer. What I do know is that the P1 LM is a road car converted to race spec that was then converted back to road format. Generally that doesn't work too well because to many of these cars get terribly compromised.
Actually the 7:45 was an estimate from the video available at pistonhead tv and was not driven by a Pro Driver from this thread http://www.**************/forum/threads/nurburgring-lap-times.41550/ For this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Deq1ISUpHyY As for downforce F1 generates 200lbs of downforce at 149mph it is stated in the 1996 issue of racecar where they compared it with 1996 F1 GTR and autocar and motor says it generates 160lbs at same speed. If you go through the Sport Auto dyno test, you will find that several supercars produce lift not even downforce. As for suspension setting soft setting is perfectly suited for Nurburgring. And on the note of Lap times F1 is fast at Estoril with 3 people onboard in Turbo 1994 issue compared to lap times done by Auto Foco http://www.zeperfs.com/en/classement-ci82.htm And the last time which is decent is its tsukuba laptime considering the amount of lap time and track conditions (92% humidity, cloudy weather, damp track seen from reflection of light at track and moisture coming from wheels at launch) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcRY15toko0 Compare that to 430 Scuderia which did lap in what I think is similar conditions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF3tWa6BLUA And about F40 being faster than F1 is simply due to more amount of laps and ideal conditions moreover F1 was still faster than F50.
Actually nope in 1994 chicanes were inserted and the track was a bit narrower and longer plus the lap was with 3 people onboard,so It would atleast be slower by 2s.
