Hi, I like the contrasting piping on the interior. That blue is very dark, but most likely looks fantastic outside. (Too contrasted for digi cameras with interior lighting, looks almost black) High mileage? Ok, I understand there is a big difference in this between Europe and USA. Under 28k miles is less than 50.000 km, I would call that a low mileage as it is already a 17 year old car. Mine has over 92.000km on the dial now and I have done 15% of that in the past two summers. These are modern cars and if serviced and driven regularly and according to the factory instructions they should last very long. I hope! Cheers, Pekka T. Fin.
Hi Pekka...Sorry, force of habit. I mis-spoke! You are correct. That's why I drive my Cali at every opportunity! Keeps the car in good shape and a smile on my face. 18,000 km and counting, 8,000 km of those on my watch in the past 6 months. Cheers. T
Visited today a car show at Nuernberg, two 456 were for sale, one black 456 GT with manual 6 speed gear box and appr. 75.000 km, the other one a very tasteful 456 M GTA, with 38.000 km, both in quiet nice to perfect condition. Black 456 was priced ar 65.000 , the Grigio Ingrid (?) one at 67.900 . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I own a 2000 456M GTA in Grigio Titanio over a black interior with white piping. This vehicle is a two-owner car which I purchased from Ferrari of Seattle. This vehicle has less than 20,000 miles and the car is in great shape and with all appropriate maintenance records. I'm wondering if anyone can provide me with a sense of the car's current market value. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
NADA says between $47-81K, SCM has them at $50-60. Given the miles, I'd say SCM gets you in the ballpark.
That's a tough one. These cars have stopped depreciating, but major repairs/services will cost a large portion of the cars value. A "proper" belt service will include several other items that fall into the while-you're-in-there category as they involve much of the same labor; belts, tensioners, cams, hoses, valve adjustments, etc. Assuming there are no surprises (and when does that ever happen?), it's safe to budget $7-10K for a major with belts. That said, it is not always feasible to deduct that whole amount from an asking price. But to answer your question, the cost of the major should represent your trade space. You and the seller will negotiate how much of that amount you'll each cover.
To put the pricing in perspective: I got offers in the high 60s for my Japan-import 1995 manual in late September. I had just done the belts and it has 575M wheels, about 12000 kms (7500 miles). I think I can pull a bit more in the spring. It needed a few mods to be USA road legal. I'd say mint 456s are pushing to 75-80k. Maybe not in winter, but the days of a 40-50k one are definitely behind us (neglected cars aside).
My sense is manuals are still commanding a premium, but GTA's have come back down from last year's peak.
