I have a feeling I'm gonna love my F12B even more when this new version is released...

 

Finally found a UK dealer who happily took my deposit and gave me an invitation for the preview in Maranello. Fingers crossed, he gets a decent allocation. Those dealers nearer London are already "sold out".

 

You should change your dealer lol. I just got an invite from a dealer I have never done any business with. And I don't even have a stable of limited edition cars like you.

I think it will be horses for courses (poor pun). Some will continue to love the clean purity of the original F12B whilst others will love its evolution(which I happen to think will be great) together with its even more incredible performance. Without being subjective, looking at what we can see at present, very difficult to come down on the F12B's side as, in camo, they look pretty similar to my eye.

 

A friend who got to see the car in Dayton says it's very similar to Tdf but more an evolution of Tdf in an elegant less aggressive way.

I do not know the relative value of the 550s but I'm sure its worth more to you than what others would pay you for it. I don't think you bought it for its investment potential either way. Which would be the same advice for F12M buyers. I was comparing appreciation between production and LEs. There will be thousands made and if the F12M has a shot at attaining a curve like the tdf, a version of it must me limited I think as we all know. Being last of anything is kind of relative with respect to appreciation. Along a different take, the Enzo holds no special premium because its currently the last non-hybrid in the hypercar line. Well, maybe I'll take that back, because to me it really does!

 

I think you are right about the Enzo and premiums. Its hard to compare. The 550 was a return to a sought after form (front V12, RWD, 2 seats, handsome styling). F12M could be the last unassisted V12, but will anyone care? I think some here will but not enough to influence the market place. You could also argue the F12b is the last Pininfarina designed V12 2 seater and you'd be right. Matters a lot to me, does it matter to the market? I don't think so much.

What the 550 has in its favor is time has shaken out a good many cars due to accidents, abuse, some modified in various ways in the quest to be better drivers, so if you have a clean car with not super high mileage, you have something special today. And the market recognizes this- some 550s might trade above some 599s! That's today. Most people just can't wait this long- its ~20 years now for some 550s. Its a classic. Will time be this kind to the 575, 599 and F12b? Only time can tell.

Meanwhile the F12M is just over the horizon. On the evidence so far, it is shaping up to be desirable, exciting and inspiring. The perfect combination for a front engined V12 Ferrari 2 seater.

 

As seen in the side view picture the new model seems to continue the convex shape between the tail lights like the tdF has. Also an aggressive rear spoiler to compared with the F12.

The real question will be how close is the weight figure compared to the tdF version.

 

Do you think the rear stance is wider? maybe wider rubber to cope with more horses? Next it will be one giant tire across the whole rear

 

Camlet - I hear you, I have a low mile 575M FHP gated, Nero and Crema, would be the last to go if a forced seller. It has SOUL.

Dealers care more about transactions than ownership. The factory probably cares a little more about classic/LE ownership as this often equates to potential high margin (albeit hard to scale) business via restorations/parts etc.

There are members here like Scraggy who have put a dozen cars through the dealer who are (rightly) on the list, and there are some I know with $20million+ F-car collections who have no standing at all because they rarely buy new releases.

In any event, I am not in any great hurry - Ferraris are thankfully "only" big boys' toys.

Its just, i was never a fan of the TDF rear bumper. And the evolution of the Lusso seemed to tame the original FF design. Made it softer and more elegant. From what we can tell (i could be completely off once revealed), it almost looks like they are doing the exact same thing with the F12. But rather than taming the design of the original F12B, they will use the TDF as a starting point.

I think the F12B is one of the most beautiful GT cars ever made by Ferrari. The large rear lights with the T shaped bumper makes me look back at the car every time i park it. I guess thats all i'm implying by saying I'm gonna continue to stay in love with my car after the new version is released.

 

New version will be stunning sure but i'm in love with T shaped back with single light. F12 tail made noise from the biginning... if we had all the same taste would be boring.

I agree the F12 has been and will remain one of the most beautiful "Berlinetta" since 30 years

Strangely enough the T shaped bumper was the one area I was never that particularly enamoured about which just goes to prove my point.

One thing I do know is that Ferrari is very pleased with it, so read into that what you will.

If we see carefully the picture we can find out some clues regarding the final design of the car. The mule appears to have yellow color in many parts, including the rear bumper (parking sensors), the mirrors, the roof etc. That means that all these parts have the final shape. My opinion is that there is an interesting aerodynamic solution in the back of the car. There are obviously air intakes that drive the air through the opening in front of the back lights and probably down the rear spoiler

 

...And if in the tail is there a solution with blown spoiler as in 488? Be careful to disguise that leave a slot between lights

Me too Tim, I dislike the T at the back and the hatchback style. Hopeless for golf clubs also dropping them in from above freaught with risks to body work and seals !
