You are absolutely right. And you know what: the pleasure to drive her is even better, than the excited anticipation. Very interesting and stunning! Thanks for sharing and have fun! Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
How Porsche's Turbo Shrinks the Lag but Keeps the Power The vanes in the turbo's inlet wheel (1) open and shut mechanically. At low rpm, they're nearly closed, creating a narrower path that effectively accelerates slow-moving exhaust gas. This helps lessen turbo lagthe same principle as putting your thumb over a garden hose. High rpm means open vanes and reduced restriction. The hero is that antenna-like piece (2) between inlet (3) and compressor (4): It continuously telescopes, adjusting vane position up to 10 times per second. The tech has been around for ages, mostly in diesels, but Porsche says the 718 S and 911 Turbo are the only production gas cars to use it. (Germans! Always making claims! Next thing you know, they'll be saying rear engines make sense.) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Once you get it spooled, I imagine it is what the Millenium Falcon is like in hyperdrive. Congrats on the car. Please share more pics if you have them.
RoW 1977 Turbo for sale at BHCC. Would have been stunning when new with unusual color combination of platinum metallic with green interior no affiliation. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/porsche/930/1898762.html Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Probably the most interesting color combo I've seen to date on a 930. This car really needs to be restored and displayed. I wonder if this was once a celebrity car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, the reason they call them the Widow-Maker! Interestingly enough I have seen recent threads where some try to deny this fact.. Congrats on a beautifully finished car! Enjoy!
A nice Viper Green car just hit the market. Porsche 930 3.0 Turbo "Vipergreen-diamond" - Bastian Hubald
Sorry for being a downer but there are a lot of things wrong with that viper green car. Boost gauge or tach is wrong Odometer is wrong as it's from a Japanese 930 Radio buttons are wrong Turbo Intake manifold is painted black and shouldn't be Center console is from a 1977 or later and shouldn't be in there Seat belt clickers are wrong Speakers in the door are wrong On another note, it does seem like a LOT of these cars are being brought back to their former glory and that is exciting. That said, I wonder how many will be lipstick on a pig vs. the proper care and attention put into a restoration like both you and I are trying to accomplish Chris.
Agreed, it's not a perfect car. But great color and very nice / rare original interior. I love the cloth inserts.
I have a 77 930 with the council in front of the gear selector which also has compartments for extra tapes and A/C knobs but I don't have all the knobs/switches on the top of the council above the tape compartments. Mine has two air condition knobs but they are different with markings on the face of the knob and in different position offset to the right. Just curious what those knobs are for? Is the radio original? Mine has the Mexico radio which is completely different no buttons but a power bar across the top for changing stations as well as the tuner knob. Also the wind deflector on the sunroof seems to be missing. The parts were hard to find as the spring breaks and you cant seem to just get the spring which engages the wind deflector when the sunroof opens and each side of the deflector is different and not necessarily interchangeable. Fortunately I found one side which was interchangeable but some are not. Does anyone have any idea where I can get the automatic climate control box (heat & A/C) between the seats mine stopped working and need to use the red handle to activate the heater rather than the dial on the automatic unit. That is the last part that I need to replace/refurbish to have everything working correctly.
Above the tape holders, you should have 2 knobs. IIRC, the left knob is for temperature and the right knob is for fan speed. Above the right knob is the microphone for the head unit.
Ahhh I don't have a radio that is equipped with a microphone. Never have seen one before but I had heard about them. I believe that was an OEM option. Thanks.
This is a 1975 built car, model year 1976, one of the homologation models, the oil line in front of the fan means it does have the 930/50 engine. More than a 20.000 euro premium compared to the viper green imo, but the color reduces the extra value. It's a love it or hate it color. Funny thing is that colors can grow on you. This one grew on me in the past, but now it's gone again...
1975 Turbo S-CD 5711 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142657810-post1628.html appeared in the Dec 74 Dutch magazine Autorevue. The cover featured S-CD 1337 and listed the new model as the Porsche Carrera Turbo but the inside photo was S-CD 5711 and the article introduced it as the 911 Turbo. This is the first time Ive seen an early article list the new model as the 911 Turbo but it may have been the sales designation for the Netherlands. Early 1975 Porsche technical documents on import of the Porsche 930 Turbo list the vehicle type as 930 and the sales department description as "Turbo" without 911 appearing in the designation. Swapped out my 1979 930 CDI box (symptom bouncing Tach when warm) with a NOS unit and noticed that it’s dated 929 (Sep 1979). I'll have the original repaired and keep it with the car. My 1975 Turbo’s CDI box is dated 523 (Mar 1975) and is stamped on a different location on top by the 5mm Allen screw. This is another nice detail you can check on your 3-liter Turbos for originality. I suspect many were replaced with new units when they failed but it’s nice to have the date-matched original. My Bosch CDI box is dated one month later than my Bosch H4s. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144205497-post4797.html Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's probably kiln red ... beautiful color, kind of a burnt orange metallic. The very first 911 I drove way back in 1990 was a 1977 911S in kiln red with cork leather sport seats. Fortunately, I did not buy it -- 1977 was not exactly a great year for the 911, ended up with a 1980 911SC in boring old silver : ) Here's a nice 930 in kiln red. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for info, Again !! I have left my dîner to check it.. How to you read the 23 for march ? I have 521 on the top but need better cleaning for the other number. I notice you have also an original "made in France" relay, better than china.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
