The shop my buddys testarossa is at (Salerno Motorsports in Rocklin CA) quoted me today $3600 for the belt service, I didn't ask many questions except timeframe as his car is ready to be picked up and it'd make sense to drop mine off and pick his up at the same time (Both live in Oregon)

I only asked about hill tensioners and the man who answered the phone said they do everything by the book unless I provided parts to use.

This will be my first service on the car. Based on other threads it seems high but I could be wrong. Just looking for input and suggestions and or help. Is there something i'm missing? Suggestions to get aftermarket bearings or something?

Seems in the ballpark to me.

You can get a belt kit from Ricambi with Hill tensioners and bearings.

You can get this done in the UK for £500 to £800, so i dont see where they are getting $3600 from. On a 360 it is a relativly simple job.
Have you tried a few other independents or do it your self as not that hard with a bit of planning. 1st time can be a bit weird but once you have the idea you will save yourself a lot of money. I did my own for over 20 years with no problems, just a sore back and knees.
Hill engineering do an uprated bearing to replace 181264, only a few pounds over ferrari oem bearing.

Whatever the cost, you are in VERY good hands and Salerno motorsports. I used to own a shop and the fastest way to have problems is to have customers tell you how to do the repair. I used Hill stuff for my belt change but the original stuff went 28K with NO problems. Sometimes one choice is the same as the other.

Typically, when performing a belt service, you do a complete service at the same time. Change the oil and all the other fluids.

Also, some parts are sometimes not replaced when doing a belt service - like maybe the tensioners?

If the $3,500 covers all of it and all the parts, then it is a pretty good deal.

If the $3,500 is just for changing the belts, it seems high.

I have watched the full belt service with fluids be done by experienced pros, and it takes nearly a full day.

Belt service is a lot less labor intensive than the fluids and major...I think the dealer here charges 3800 for the whole thing...so it sounds good if that's the case.

If the estimate is for the whole service that is in the range of reasonable. If you are a Ferrari Club of America member you will get 10% off of this if the service is an Authorized dealer.
You may consider a small upcharge for the Hill Engineering Tensioners. If the mechanic does not know of this product I would not let them touch my car.

    All the belts, Cam/AC/Alt/PS
    Cam Belt Tensioners
    Engine Oil/Filter R/R
    Brake/Clutch Fluid Flush
Trans/Diff Fluid Flush (Could be extra)
    Coolant Flush (Could be extra)
Power Steering Fluid (Could be extra)
    Cabin Filter (Could be extra)
    Wiper Blades (extra)

    Am I missing anything guys?

You have to ask them to define 'Belt Service'. That cost should include a lot more that just the belts. I think it means different things to different people

Major service on my 360 on 12/4/13 was $3289.61 (@Maserati of Sacramento if I am not mistaken). My ppi was done by Salerno. I can tell you that they really do a good job.

When I received a belt change a few years ago I asked about the Hill parts. The Ferrari dealer said that if I use the Ferrari parts I would get a 2 year warrantee but not with the Hill parts. Have any of you come across this same warrantee?

My last timing belt replacement (March 2015) was $1100.00 plus $414.00 for Hill tensioner bearings. This at a San Diego independent.

    Cheers, Andy

If only belt service then at that price is should include cam timing. If just lock and swap should be less than half that.

Mike, I also came across the issue of not using Ferrari parts when it came to replacing the clutch. They basically told me "if you bring your own burger to Burger King - there is no warranty. But if you use Ferrari parts, then you get a 12 month warranty".

I'm getting my major done at my mechanic (RMT in Socal)
Full Belt service and annual fluid change = $2700 out the door

Thats a fair deal in my book. Only wild car is tensioners, he will let me know if i need them but they were replaced relatively recently so probably good to go

Jolt - you need to tell us what is included for anyone to give comparative pricing from their experience...

A so-called "major service" is slang for a belt/tensioner change and all fluids and filters and ancillary belts. Dealers charge $4-5k for that. Indy's usually $3-4k. It consists broadly of two components:

    1) A "belts/tensioners only" is a rare thing, and I've been quoted anywhere from $1800 to $2400 for that. Usually also includes the ancillary belts.

    2) The "all" fluids and filters so-called annual service is usually $1200-$2000 (low end at an indy, higher end at a dealer). You will see cheaper prices, but usually that is not for literally "all" fluids.

So the total for both (1) and (2) is around $3000-$4500 plus/minus by dealer. I've done the "major" twice and they were $3200 the first time back in 2012 and $3800 a year ago, both at an official dealer and both with a negotiated discount.

Of course all of these are "without getting in there and seeing what else is needed"...so, ymmv.

My last 'belt' service at the Ferrari dealer was about $3600. Included all fluid change - tensioners were checked but not changed. FCA 10% discount makes it less painful.

I have not heard the warranty issue from my dealer. When I did my ball joints last year I gave them Hill replacements and they never flinched, or threatened any different treatment.
