You're welcome...the France unit is a voltage stabilizer for the CDI Box and I believe the Marchal brand is original.

There is no other 3-digit number on the 8 pin, 3-liter Turbo CDI box. They may have moved the date code to the bottom when they introduced the 6-pin CDI box for the 1978 model year.

Was your alternator replaced? The SEV Marchal unit may have been deleted if it had a built in regulator.

While I was out there I took pictures of a couple of things that i would like to check out with the community.

First up, while I recall we have discussed the green paint marks found on components inside the engine bay already, and we believe that they are inspection marks, I wondered if anybody else has found any numbers, apparently scratched in, sitting next to them. In my case, the number "80" appears scratched next to a blob of green paint, located on a part I can't quite get to, underneath the air intake.

Anyone else have this or seen this? I can't believe it's a coincidence that my car is chassis #80. But to believe that this was done at the factory I will have to see it on another '75 car.

Also, paint blobs for some parts indicated revisions to the parts. This enabled factory workers picking up a part to easily detect if it was the latest revision or should be skipped since it was some older design/etc (and perhaps installed on a different model). Presumably the parts bins were just refilled as stock came in, so old parts could linger.

So far I have found red, yellow and green marks. The red are all on nuts or tips of bolts; maybe they are to indicate that they have been torqued up. Then there are some components that have just green and others that have green and then yellow. So far these are only in the engine. Maybe a first and second fix? I am just guessing here...

So have we come to a conclusion if a 75 Turbo would have had the grey undercoating or if it would have been body color?

Chris, in my opinion, the '75 was painted body colour underneath, in the arches, in the trunk and engine area. Then different protective finishes were applied as considered appropriate.

I took a few photos for Ryan when my car was on a ramp recently. I am no photographer, but if you would like copies, PM me and I will gladly forward.

    John
