I am going to replace the engine bay panels and airbox in my 458 Italia with carbon fiber parts. I have narrowed my choice between MAcarbon and Carbonio. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that has purchased CF parts from either MAcarbon or Carbonio regarding the quality of the parts, how well their CF matches OEM CF, and the fit of the parts when installing. Thank you for your comments.

I really like MACarbon and all their employees. I have stopped by their shop in Belmont many times. Quality people and quality products. Have used them for my McLarens, Ferraris, and Lambos.

First of all thank you for including Carbonio in your short list. We try hard to deliver high quality parts with top levels of customer service. Our Carbonio branded line of products represent the enthusiast driven arm of the company where the other arm specializes in private label manufacturing work primarily for OEM clients. This work experience allows us to make parts with factory levels of fit and finish. On the Ferrari side we actually use carbon sourced from the same supplier and to the identical spec that Ferrari uses ensuring a perfect match to any Ferrari OEM carbon. The full engine bay panel kit with airbox (called our 'carbon zone' kit) is no exception and once installed is indistinguishable from OEM.

MAcarbon, despite being our competitor, is an excellent company with excellent people and you can be sure to get great quality parts from them. In general they specialize a little more on interior components while we turn our attention to more engineered parts that have to withstand extremes of temperature and load. Of all the carbon companies out there we never hesitate to direct customers to MAcarbon for applications that we do not offer.

To the OP seeing as you are in Long Beach it so happens that presently our technical director is in SoCal. I will ask him to PM you as we can offer for him to travel to you and personally aid you in your install at no cost.

Until then here is a little 458 CF eye candy for you :)

If your choice is between these two, FWIW, I have the Carbonio extended paddles and they are of excellent quality.

Thanks everbody for the kind comments.

The MAcarbon team works hard to make the best products so that playing with our 'fun' cars stay a source of enjoyment - and do not become 'work like' headaches.

As Carbonio mentioned, we've competed with each other for many years now. They area good company and we direct customers to them frequently as well.

Vette2Modena, I'd be happy to discuss your project with you. You can PM me, call us at the shop (650.489.4415) or email. I look forward to talking.

Interesting that the 488 has been out for over a year and neither company has really anything to offer?

You can't go wrong with either. I have bought from MA Carbon a few times with good results.

Carbon makes the best quality Carbon Fiber I have personally ever seen. Their attention to detail is great. On my 360, I had Tubi air box covers and the Carbonio ones were even better quality when I compared them.

I can highly recommend Rob and the guys over at Carbonio. Absolutely outstanding quality products and great customer service/support.

If you look at their product offerrings for the 458 they specialize in different areas which helps explain why they were both so cordial to each other :)

MaCarbon has mainly interior CF. Dash, steering wheel, doors, door sills, vents, center console etc.

Carbonio has engine bay and exterior CF. Engine compartment, air boxes, hood latch, engine cover with glass, etc (the only interior piece they did have that I saw was the paddle shifters).

I.e. both good -- both server different parts.

Yes we do serve slightly different slices of the carbon market. But part of it is also a mutual respect built on years in the Ferrari carbon market. MAcarbon is in our 12th year and I believe Carbonio is similar. We've both seen many other companies come and go. Rob and I have chatted many times over the years on the 'right' way to do things. I know we're customer and quality focused. I'm sure they'd say the same thing.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the kind words. I appreciate it.

Every of my Ferrari within the F1 area runs always with the Carbonio paddles
and a lot of Johns MACarbon stuff! :)

After paddle install is not that big project, the upgrade of carbon interior is sometimes
a challenge and John and his team done a hell of job to make sure that a client
    can manage it! Thanks! :)

    Greetings Christian

Thank you all for the positive comments and endorsements. As enthusiasts ourselves it is always satisfying to hear that we are serving our community well. MAcarbon is also made up of a great group of gearheads who care which makes it easy to explain their longevity in the industry.

A few years back we published the following post to help consumers make informed decisions when it comes to buying carbon for their exotic. Here is the link and it is worth a read:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/442265-what-look-when-buying-carbon-fiber-consumer-information-post.html

Even a few years later everything contained in this post is relevant.

Carbonio paddles were probably the best mod I did to my car. Love them!

I ordered Carbonio air boxes for my 360.

    Very high quality, look great.

Also, my mechanic had a few questions when he went to mount them.

He called them directly and they immediately walked him through it.

Would recommend their products to anyone.

When I was a young lad, one of the first upgrades I got for my e36 was a Carbonio air intake. Quality was fantastic. I thought at the time Carbonio was a Canadian company - or was I mistaken? At any rate, Multimatic is Canadian so there's something to be said for Canadian engineering!

I am absolutely blown away by the professionalism of both companies in this thread.

    Wow guys way to go!

Seriously to see two competing companies have such a great mutual respect is phenomenal.

I wouldn't hesitate to do business with either one! If their products are as good as the etiquette and professionalism... You are GOLDEN.
