Sorry if it's an obvious one, but never seen it before - any ideas on that this is? (second to last photo) Ferrari F355 3.5 2dr Thanks!
These? If so, then early Spiders but not for USA, CDN or CH. (My lines in red). AIR INTAKE - Ricambi America, Inc. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
wow that is interesting. definitely some type of custom setup. the bypass valve is deleted too. started at it a while cannot figure out what the purpose of that pipe configuration is for.
oh surprised this is actually oem? have never seen this on any 355. still trying to figure out the flow? where is the air going in those pipes when the usual air inlets are still on the boxes?
Thanks! those exactly the ones. Super helpful. Seen many F355s before, never seen these pipes on any of them
Early 355's (95) got there air via the c pillars which spiders don't have. A change was made to get the air via the door side scoop later. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dave what you posted is correct as far as routing from the pillar or door but the car in the first pic has the additional resonators that Wade has pictured (#15). I could only guess that they were needed to meet some kind of euro sound requirement?
Jim - take a look at the pic from the parts diagram - where is the intake air coming from? Kinda looks like those pipes - no? EDIT - never mind, I see the other port now. Must be the air door scoop like all spiders.
The pipes are obviously just resonators (blind pipes, columns of air). They are either tuned to dampen the intake sound or to enhance it to a very special Italian sound?
In the case of the US and Swiss cars, we 2 countries have the most strict noise regulations in the world and the induction systems are different for that reason. Noise is measured as a total on the road so mechanical noise, exhaust noise and induction noise are all taken into account.
