Your comment reminds me of the Olympic speed skating coach from Norway who was commenting on why the USA didn't do better in speed skating that year. He couldn't fathom why we didn't funnel our athletes into his sport. The athletes were all wasted in football (American) or baseball or other sports he obviously considered inferior.

It is foolish and naïve to ridicule people who don't know everything you know. They have strengths you may never learn to appreciate if you don't give them a chance.

I did not condescend to anyone. I simply said that some people need to expand their horizon based on the opinion, that if you know what a Mustang is and you haven't heard of Ferrari, you're not really seeing what's going on around you.

I've lived in the US and like the US very much in fact. I've lived in the north and in the south, New York and Houston to be precise. So when I say some Americans should expend their horizon, it does not stem from prejudice, it's based on experiences that comes from interaction with them.

Most Europeans know the major cities and most states is the US. But when an American states that Denmark is the capital of Norway, that Belgium is a city or something idiotic like that, then something's off. And yes, those are statements I've come across.

As for learning about Ferrari in the school? Well, come to think of it. It's kind of hard not ot. If you learn about European culture and history, it's very much a part of it.

I apologize if I offended anyone, but I stand by my opinion that some people in the US needs to look beyond the next hill top.

So all Europeans are steeped in American culture? I really don't think you can narrow this comment down to any one continent. There are many things about other cultures that I simply don't care about. There are many things in American culture I simply don't care about.

Gotta admit I've heard a certain amount of, "Who makes that?" over the years. Not as much as,"What'll it do in the quarter?", but still...;)

Not sure how this topic turned into a ****ing match over whose culture is more sophisticated though. :)

I live in one of the most remote states in the USA with the 50th lowest population. I have yet to have someone (be it kid or adult) who didn't know that I was driving a Ferrari, and didn't approach the car with respect and admiration. Kids especially but many adults taking pics and asking polite questions at the gas station or parking lots.

Perhaps it's more a city thing than a "USA" thing?

Stopped for fuel in a rough area of town last week at 6:00 in the morn. Two young guys dressed in work boots/gear like me said the couldn't believe I wasn't in a suit....we chat for a bit and they are pretty well informed about the these cars and then this happens...dude pulls up his shirt and he has a Ferrari shield tattooed on his stomach! I asked him why he would do that and he casually says that he has a Ferrari body....weird. I've also had an older lady ask if it's a Mustang and I came out of a hotel I stayed at briefly, went to the parkade and somebody had spit on the windshield....looked like he/she had pneumonia.

I live in a tiny town too and have the same experiences, they all know it is a Ferrari and like it quite a lot, it's all good.

I've gotten complements, but I get a lot of the "how much did you pay for it?" Like its anyone's business. Only car I've ever gotten that question in, and Ive gotten it several times.

Only two incidents since I picked up my 360 in September.

Whilst standing next to my 360, an elderly posh chap stopped and complimented me on the car. He then started telling me how he used to own and drive the same Marque in the 60's and 70's and how he regretted selling them. I was really impressed. Imagine the kinds of Ferrari's he had driven!! His parting words were...... "I really miss my Mustangs".

The second incident happened whilst I was stopped in traffic in London. It was a bit chilly, but I had my roof down. Out of nowhere a young lady appears next to my window and says "I would love to know what a Ferrari feels like".

"I'm sorry, what?" I replied in a Hugh Grant'ish reply.

"I'd love to know what a Ferrari feels like" she repeated.

My first thought was that she wanted to to touch the 360!

So I asked her "How do you want to do that?"

"I was thinking I could get into the car and you could take me for a ride".

Tempted as I was, I could only reply with "I'm sorry, that's my wife in the BMW Convertible behind me".

She looks to the left and sees my girlfriend sitting in the BMW with the roof down looking at us.

"Oh.... good luck" she said and walked away.

My girlfriend managed to take a photo :D

Have to say, that in the 11 years I had a 348, nothing like that ever happened to me.

    ..and it won't in a 348. :D

Seriously, both are nice cars, but that picture just begs the caption, "How I met your Mom"...LOL!

Ouch. That's pretty harsh, especially from someone who posted the moob shot above.

I have had mixed remarks. Usually OK but a few not so. There does seem to be plenty of people in the UK that despise anybody who may appear to be wealthy or are.

It's funny, I just sold the 458, waiting on a 488, and bought a Bentley GTC while winter is here. No one takes any notice of the Bentley, save the odd person who makes the effort to come and say how sophisticated it looks. Parking the ferrari in the same places was a lottery, sometimes very nice comments, sometimes not so much. I even had someone taking photos of the car telling me he was putting the car on the internet to show people what a **** I was (to be parked, in a parking space, on a public road, totally legally). He didn't like me stamping on his phone mind you, so he had a point eventually. No cctv, and the chap from the pub who saw it happen backed me to the cops which was funny!, I'd given him a ride earlier in the week!

Don't know what to add to that! There is so much envy or jealousy in some people.
