Despite fuelling up a laferrari last week? Doubt he owns a loser cruiser
If I want to hang out with a car guy I will most likely find many more interesting people in this forum than both of them
Didn't he say the LaF belonged to a friend? It could well be that Rosberg is a car nut with a secret collection of fantastic classics and current supercars, and has just kept it well hidden...
What is ironic to me: those who always complained about others here putting Lewis off-track activities and character in focus rather purely his drivers skills are the very same people who retaliate on Rosberg being bland, unthankfull and not trustworthy after just winning the WDC over Hamilton...
That's the first time I've ever read one of your posts and actually thought it made sense. I don't think there is anybody who doesn't want to see a competitive battle at the sharp end of the grid so I also hope Bottas proves to be worthy of the opportunity, and I also don't think that Ferrari will be involved in that battle either but here's hoping.
Agreed, and in the history books is where he chose to reside. But the first whiff of some possible extra cash, he's going against his 'putting my family first' and is taking the green-backs. He's a shallow as a tea spoon.
Not a difficult concept to grasp indeed, so why not promote Bottas to brand ambassidor status. Those on here who always believe they're right appear to have forgotten Mercedes have more than one driver who are still in F1.
Everyone has a choice in life. Nico took his. Whether anyone else truly understands it or agrees with it, so what ? Concentrate on your own life choices, make it the best life yours can possibly be, and who cares what others think. We are all unique
Because he's Finish. They don't talk much really. Plus Nico is German...Merc is German. Also because Bottas is not a WDC. Not even close.
+1 Nico is the likeable arch-type clean-cut German (albeit half-Finn), educated, soft spoken and well mannered, who makes women's hearts melt. He could sell a lot of Mercs !!!
Both F1 drivers will be doing plenty of promotional appearances, Nico's new role won't affect that in the slightest. While Hamilton and Bottas are racing most weekends, Nico as Brand Ambassador will be doing a lot of showroom appearances every weekend, coinciding with radio ads for "Krazy Fritz's showroom blowout! All 2016 inventory must go! We have KRAZEEEE prices! Come meet a former F1 driver, get an autograph, balloon, and a hot dog!" (schnitzel?)
As Fritz normally is not living in the US this is not how a typical sales day looks like in a Mercedes-Benz Niederlassung
^this McLaren are the worst in recent history. They've done it to Checo when they had that horrible car, and blamed the poor chap, even when Jenson couldn't do much with it either. Jenson was put thru something similar as well, where he and one other driver weren't sure if they were even gonna drive next year. Methinks Mercedes asked him to be ambassador. LOL
JANUARY 9, 2017 Rosberg to watch Melbourne from the couch Nico Rosberg has no plans for the 2017 season opener in March except for "sitting on a couch". "I'm just going to be at home, sitting on a couch, watching TV," the reigning world champion, who stunned the F1 world by quitting just days after winning his first title, told CNN. Former Mercedes driver Rosberg, however, admitted that watching Melbourne on television as the new champion is "going to be strange". But "I'll be excited to see the new cars and the battles. I'll definitely be following," Rosberg added. Some have surmised that Rosberg only ever intended to emulate his father's achievement of winning the title before retiring, while others think he baulked at the extraordinary pressure of taking on Lewis Hamilton. "The pressure and the intensity were unbelievable," Rosberg admits. "There were some really hard moments along the way. "To lose to Lewis in the two championships prior was very, very tough," he said. "It's really not easy to handle. "Even when I crossed the line (in Abu Dhabi) I wasn't happy. I was relieved in the first instance." So for now he will be happy to watch Melbourne from home, albeit indicating that he wants to return to F1 with a role in the future. "I want to be involved in the sport in some way," Rosberg said. "I know I'll be a fan of our sport." But as for racing, he insists it's over for now. "I have a go-kart in the south of France so if I feel the need to drive, I just go up there with friends," he said. "Apart from that, nothing at the moment. "What I need is competition. There are other sports I also have passion for. I know that even if I play tennis I can get a similar sort of thrill and fun out of it. So let's see."
15:12 Via SKY F1 - I guess the boss at Daimler is used to Toto calling with LH problems LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche has admitted he thought it was going to be another Lewis Hamilton problem when he saw that Toto Wolff was ringing him to reveal Nico Rosberg's retirement. Zetsche said he was stepping out of the shower when he looked it his phone, telling Autocar: “I saw it was Toto and I thought, oh again, something with Lewis! But then I got the news. And I did not expect that, I must say.” However, he did respect Rosberg's decision. “Obviously, one [Hamilton] is saying 'I want more and more and I want to break more records and make history'," he added. "And the other one [Rosberg] is saying 'well, I finally fulfilled my life dream and what can be on top of that?', and both approaches are legitimate.” "It would have been easier and more pleasant for us to have two world champions in our team for the season to come - not necessarily less fight but this was part of the entertainment, and now we need a new driver and that’s how life works. "And so I was not insulted or totally disappointed. I respected his decision." (Full story - external link)
