Sorry for kicking this thread, but better kicking an old one than starting a new one Does anyone know whether or not the Oblin Spyder was once painted in a black/green livery? I know it was once red/white. Thanks.
and another kick... The car apperantly appeared at the 2013 Cavallino Classic. Dressed in a way too modern matt grey. I don't know how to get the pictures any bigger, but they are part of the slide show at barchetta.cc and copyright of Peter Singhof. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actually, there is also an article in the latest Cavallino which shows a period photo with paint as it is today. As counterintuitive as it seems, this current paint job looks to be as it was in the day. George
Don't have the issue with me, but is this the photo shown, or is there another? Image Unavailable, Please Login
There are many period photos, along with a copy of Marcel Massini's report on the car, in the link in my post above.
Yes, but only one color photo - the same one that I posted. I have not seen another from the same period.
interesting read. Thanks! Pretty strange they misspell their companyname in the email reference though ("Primier").
Does anyone has an idea what the color was back when it was bodied as a vinagle coupe? It's surely a two tone paint but was it red/silver (i asume) or other? thanks for the help. If you have a answer please let me know via pm or e-mail
Looking at the pciture , i guess the paint was at the time as unusual as the driver's hat,,that is matching his white gloves i guess or hiding his boldness...unless it is a very advanced helmet...
From the memories Lucien Bianchi (former F1 driver): "The following year, 53 Jacques Herzet, wanting to buy a two-liter Ferrari, asked me to accompany him to Modena, where I knew all the factory technicians to help them choose a car". So, Lucien Bianchi helped Herzet to buy 0300M or even inspired to by first Herzet's Ferrari? Does anybody know more from that story?
The only thing I can tell you is that he married Herzet's daughter in the next year or two. He was a very good and friendly man. I had the chance to meet him a few years latter when he still had a little garage in Brussels. A great man, low profile, left us too early.
Hey Tifosi - some good news, especially for readers of this thread. I have been commissioned to write an article about the restoration of the 166 Chassis 0300 for Forza Magazine. Gratefully, I have been given a ton of pictures and research by the restorer, Automotive Restoration Inc., but I would like to know more. So...if any of you in this thread have any questions or information that would help me make it a better article, please post. I am also interested to know what Qlczyk was referring to in the following terms of his/her first post above: "CSC" and "117 S". Can you please fill me in? What other story was like the story of the 0300? Finally, more good news (I hope you think it's good). One of my recent article submissions is due to appear in the next issue of Forza. It's about the Ferrari owners of...Alaska. So for those of you in cold climates - here's something to read around a nice warm fire. Best wishes to all Quasimotor
