I am getting closer to making a decision, but still not there. Having looked at a whole lot of TR's on the market right now I am seeing that the "nicer" cars are priced pretty tightly at $125-150,000. There are a few outliers at $170-190,000 and these are usually pretty low mileage cars. I'd say 95% of the red cars have the beige/tan/pelle interiors. One or two have black interiors and there's one crema. Unfortunately, I am really drawn to the rosso/crema car with 5600 miles on it and its priced at $170,000. I'd probably pull the trigger if it had the knock off wheels, which, despite the permanent restrictions on wheels and tires, appeal to me.

Wow...this is interesting. They don't seem to go into the newer Diablos with the GFA body computer. I'll follow up with them. Thanks for the link.
A few years ago, George Evans was working with Motec on the early 91-93's. But those don't have GFA'S either.

To keep this post in line with the thread...not one of these issues I have been going on about affect the Testarossa. I have had my TR down over the years for different issues but it was for something mechanical and if it was electronic, it was simple and usually a connection.
The Testarossa will live forever and never become impossible to keep on the road.

    Gordon,
I purchased my 360 Spider from Salerno and they have done all the services on the car. I have found them to be very honest, highly knowledgeable and professional....

They have two cars that you might want to consider.

The blu sera is drop dead gorgeous!

    Best Luck,
    Vincenzo

This will be of interest here.

I'm trying to do this from my smartphone so I don't know if it will come out properly.

I already know some very rich chinese people buying exotic cars and register them in an other country where they also live.
but sure, if the market will open then the "normal" rich chinese also may buy those cars and the prices will raise

The article is from August 2016 , doubt things will change anytime soon in China for classic car imports. The Mayor ( an fchatter) who is active with China in general said the Chinese love the latest and greatest. Vintage cars are considered old cars to them according to him. I think there is some truth to this, and if the Chinese investor does start to collect some of the classic cars, a lot of the "wrench turners" or "enthusiasts" around here are gonna be PISSED off of the tests rosa ever goes passed 55grand. What will those poor people do then? Buy a Camaro ???? Oh the humility.

Or a Corvette like I did! Nice looking car with LOTS of power and super good fuel economy. My last oil change cost $80 at the dealer. Oh and comfort.

Rick I've been a Mustang guy my entire life but the later convertibles I don't like the look top down. So flat they look like a kitchen table. :-( I hope you don't own one because I don't want to insult you!

    Gordon,

What are your goals with the Testarossa?

    Driveability?

    Collectability?

I really want a car that I will enjoy driving locally here along the Delaware River, on some back country roads here, and a few bursts along Route 78 in Pennsylvania. Maybe an occasional cruise down to the Carolinas. I want the car to retain or increase in value, but collect the cars I have because I love them and enjoy driving them. I plan to replace the CIS injection with a Motec system. Swap out the fuse box and add headers and a Tubi exhaust. I'll keep all the original parts nicely labelled and boxed.

So, I'm not really sure where I fit on the collector spectrum. The car I am buying has about 20,000 miles on it. That's not really collector miles and I will probably add 2,500-3,000 miles a year. The engine just puts a big smile on my face. I have a 93 Mazda Rx7 with a custom-built naturally aspirated 3 rotor motor that has a similarly amazing sound to it. Engines are what turns me on most.

    Gordon
