This F355 came in with a failed F1 pump, we converted it to a cheaper/better 360 F1 pump. It would seem the AC compressor can be easily changed while engine in - but can the AC belt also be changed with engine in? My turned to shrapnel last Fall and need to replace.
yes AC belt can be changed with the engine in. needed to change my compressor and AC belt too. was done with the engine in.
given this thread is F1 pump related.. id like to know more about whats involved to convert a 355 F1 pump to a 360 pump..? I see Ricambi packaging.. is this a direct plug and play conversion kit..? whats the cost to convert it..? this would seem to be a no brainer preventative upgrade ( like headers on any car) for F1 owners. does the TCU have to be changed too..?
With the Hill kit it is a pretty easy swap. No TCU or other changes required. Essentially it is nothing more than a change in the way the hydraulic pressure is delivered to the system. The electronics do not care how that pressure is applied. Just that it is there. It does, however, require an SD computer to bleed the system once installed. There is away to do the bleed without the SD, but I have never tried it.
thanks for info. I assume the Hill kit is what Bradan is using above? I tried to look it up on Hill website couldn't find it?
good stuff thanks.. theres also a combo kit that includes the 360pump.. are people usually going this route.. or are they looking for a used 360pump..? the combo kit is $1100.. that seems good.. for all new.. considering what I thought to rebuild 355 pump was something like $5000++ it also says.. usually needed for the conversion.. but not included in kit 1 x 186037 hydraulic oil line 1 x 185858 hydraulic union with integrated filter so from what I understand in the other related 360pump thread.. this route requires quite more labor etc.. ? versus the other way ( which I don't really understand what that way is), doesn't require the adaptor piece, thus saving time with labor etc..? I don't own an F1 car.. but if opportunity were ever to come up in the future.. knowing this upgrade is available as a plug/play kit.. I would be less concerned to consider an F1 car.
You will need the 186037 pipe, or have a shop make you one. The filter is not required, but a good idea. The only other part required is the necessity to fabricate a bracket to hold the new pump. Not a big deal. Here is a step-by-step: Using a 360 F1 Pump in an F355 - Ricambi America, Inc. The F1 pump is not a concern any longer and has not been for awhile. The solenoid valves & actuator remain more of a mystery than most of us want.
We use the Ricambi kit which gives you all the main components to install it. There is still fab work involved with brackets, adjusting lines, etc but not much. The ECU remains the same. Labor time will vary based on knowledge and fabrication ability.
That's great news. I assume that the compressor is removed which allows the belt to be added and then reinstalled?
