I would prefer it to be called a new name ,TO me it just weekens the brand when it brings out a historic name for no reason and adds it to a new unrelated model.. It would be different if the name was on going for the last 30 years. SO F12M or what ever is fine..
With McLaren having a car called the 650S? Not in a million years. And why would it be 650 LM? What's reasons for the numbers and the LM?
Going on the 8th and also have a configuration session after the presentation. I think Scraggy is going a little earlier if I remember an earlier post of his.
UK dealers seem to be mainly 9-10 Feb. NA appears to be 2-3 Feb. I am told that non-dealer clients will be end of Jan but haven't seen details. Also being told that the name will be a "technical" one only, but who knows.
I'm hoping for 540 GTB/4 but I'm not sure that's today's Ferrari has enough regard for history in it's naming conventions.
The one on the bottom right with 800hp could be interesting but at least 39 existing Ferrari owners may not see it that way.
They certainly could do a GTB name to contrast the GTC name of the Lusso. The reason I used 650 is to correlate with the displacement of the 6.5 Liter V12. They could incorporate the 4 for 4 wheel steering and call it 654. They could incorporate an 8 for the HP if it is 800 and call it an 658. There is million different things they could call it. It will be interesting to see what they do.
Imola & Monza are two names that need to be used by ferrari. I don't understand why they didn't already do so ... 650 Imola sounds great
Good point. I'd love for it to be named after either one of those. I may prefer Monza a bit. I feel that Luca M started that historic verbal format and Uncle Sweater wanted to break away from anything relating to Luca M.
650 Imola or Monza sounds great. 650 would be for the engine size. 540 would be for cylinder size in cc (roughly). Imagine if the HP = 799. How about 799 Monza? Something more interesting about 799 vs 800.
Apols gents, I've clearrly not followed all of the posts re engine size very closely - my bad..... however when I asked a very well informed and involved source (not an f-chatter),"are they going to increase power over current F12's through tuning of current 6.3 or bigger displacement?" Answer i received was "same engine size, been tuned, more power than TDF, 4WS, and much heavier therefore not quicker than the TDF" Weeks away from the reality of it......
