After the car was flooded more than a year ago now, I am still struggling to get rid of a damp smell inside the cockpit. I suspect the seats and probably the foam interior but I have not been able to locate any replacement for the foam. Does anybody know of a source of replacement foam? alternatively does anybody have a suggestion that might enable me to get rid of the mold inside the foam? (We have dismantled the seats and washed the foam as well as cleaning the leather.)

    Thanks

Might be the wool carpets, if original. There is an attached foam backer to the carpet that can hold moisture and allow for mold to take hold.

Some boat owners have success soaking foam in pickling strength white vinegar. Then things smell like vinegar for a while, but once dissipated should be an improvement.

Pro's can use an ozonator for odour removal, but that can also embrittle plastics, so would not want to overdo it. Might give it a try, you can get a very cheap ozone generator on ebay.

I would check with GAHH and Reoriginals and see if they will sell a foam kit. Both offer upholstery kits for the 328.
Also get in touch with Henk at HVL Exclusive Italian Interiors. He also offers high quality interior materials and complete interiors for Ferrari.

The carpets are original but I don't think they are the problem. When the seats were out there did not seem to be a mold smell in the cockpit. Only when the seats came back did it return.

Thanks, Rifledriver, I will check the sources you mention.

There are a pair of 328 seats currently for sale on Ebay but the price seems rather high at €3500.

PS. Has anybody had experience with deodorizers? I have found several advertized but have no idea if they can cure the problem, or just mask it.

I have had great success using baking powder to remove the mold smell from mattresses and furniture from sitting all winter in a damp cottage. Liberally sprinkle the baking powder on the foam and let it sit for 24 hours. Then vacuum up the powder. It completely removed the mold smell with no residual odours.

guaranteed fix if you use an o3 generator (cost about $80) put it in car for three hours running with recirculate on a/c. Experts use this to get rid of smokers smell. The O3 converts to oxygen after 3 hours and will take ANY smell with it. It will also knock the **** outta any mold or other unwanted radicals in the car.
