These were all made in the 1980 to 1990's Older bbr's are the best, handmade models, not 3d printed masters like today Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Paint is a little thick on the older BBR's. Also that 340 was red when it ran in the Pan Am, not dark blue. They made a ton of mistakes on a lot the older BBR models. Still I know what you are talking about. There is just something special about a well done "hand built" model.
the models in the blue green boxes are the best models BBR ever has done there are NO better hand built models around from everyone else than this series of course except the one offs Image Unavailable, Please Login
The drogo is a legendary model by BBR. One very rare model a few years back they were the holy grail, but lately quite they pop up quite regularly. One of the rarest? (not by color or limited edition) is this one.. Knew it existed, only saw it online a few times, had the opportunity to buy it only once, 2 years ago and I got it Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great model Hans!! Now that is a VERY RARE model. I remember when these 288 GTO models were new - first produced in the early 1980s and they were impossible to get then. I had several on order and not one of them ever arrived. None of my delaers could supply me. Many (if not most) of these got broken and badly damaged in shipping from BBR to their dealers, so BBR stopped producing them. They were always supposed to fix the problems and start production again, but they never did. I have no idea how many or how few were made and survived shipping, but it certainly was a very small quantity.
I just bought myself a Maserati Birdcage from CMC, and while it is certainly very detailed and well finished, it is made in China and lacks a certain.... je ne sais quoi. To all the experts here: who is the Ferrari of the scale model world?
There are several.. Jacaques Brauer, Stephen Barnett, Marshall Buck Stephane Dufrene, Thierry miliadis, Pierre Fabregues.... My favourite? Jacques Brauer.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
its the reason I only collect older handbuilt models, or models that are made traditionally. There is little talent in 3D scanning a car to scale..
Well Pedro, you're right that it is something British.....but not any sort of E-Type.....and it raced against Ferrari Testa Rossa's.
Actually to be very, very precise it is a DBR2....Ch. No. DBR2/2.....only two cars were built by Aston Martin. (And here are the promised photos.) It is a 1:10th scale complete scratch built by Manuel Olive Sans, built/completed and delivered to original owner in 1990. There were, as mentioned, two of the 1:1 Aston Martin's built, and when Olive built both models, he built them for the owners of each car at the time. There are numerous differences between each DBR2. The model is made mostly of brass, along with aluminum, steel, copper, leather, and wood. The two photos in raw brass show the first model being built which was of Ch. No. DBR2/1. Mine shown here is DBR2/2. This is a holy grail model. woww Marshall That is a HOLY grail! Congratulations on having such a unique piece. A Van Gogh in modelcars
Thank you Hans! I knew you would appreciate seeing this. Yes, a Van Gogh or Matisse. I have always wanted an Olive model ever since I first saw one in person over 30 years ago.
