It saddens me to see Toil, a fellow NZ'er, has such low opinion of our famous 3 F1 drivers.

Denny Hulme after all was a WDC!, and he and Bruce dominated Can Am. Also Chris and Bruce won Le Mans!

Chris Amon is widely regarded as one of the very best drivers ever, and very much GOAT status. Sure the stats don't show this, but if he had a little bit of luck would have been 1967 (I think) WDC and often beat Clark, Stewart, etc. Enzo Ferrari had a very high opinion of Chris.

Bruce was definitely Colin Chapman material, if not better, and we only saw a small % of what he was capable of as an engineer ... such a terrible shame. They were testing wings way before others, for example ... and tried to get Ford into F1 before Lotus.

I suggest Toil, you do a bit more reading and get up to speed with motor sport, and yes go and watch a club race and/or the Toyota Series. You will be surprised. Yes it is not as fast as F1 but the racing is often better.

I absolutely agree: the "trio at the top" were legendary drivers, each for a different reason. As far as driving skills are considered, Chris Amon was in a class of his own, but anyone who has seen pictures of Denny Hulme at Monaco in 1967 driving his Brabham would know that "the Bear" could drive too...pity Denny died young too; but at least he was doing what he loved to do.
Those three made their country proud.

But they were all before Hamilton entered F1 so he propably not even heard of them ;)

Sad story about Chris Amon: he was intended as a speaker at a symposium in Pebble Beach about the Ford GT40 but died just days prior...they even had no time to change the program...He missed what he certainly would have enjoyed: 17 Ford GT40 lined up at the water at the Pebble Beach Golf Course.

Chris gave a commentary about the 50th anniversary of his - and Bruce McLaren - Le Mans victory over the radio, speaking about the race, etc...you could hear that he was already rather weak.

Ham doesn't have an agent anymore either. So he nets the most. Smart man unless they snuck weird stuff in his contract. Doubtful.

Well, the question who gets most is very hard to answer anyhow given all the personal sponsor contracts plus all the little asterisks in any contract regarding special success premiums (premia, I know) and the like (Cue in Vettel here in his last RB season doing anything to not hit any of those and instead get out of the contract scott-free while everybody else was thinking Ricci got the better of him).

Didn't know he has no agent anymore. Guys who do that (like Vettel) impress me. I'm the least impressed by the guys who hire an entire entourage for everything incl. their own press secretary. Can't they think/speak for themselves? Apparently not.

Vettel has done all his contract negotiations by himself as well.

Its a pity that I responded to a Moss post in a Hamilton thread?

    Relax a bit :)
You could have added a word to the url about its content for readers to see it is about Moss and not Hamilton. This way everyone needs to open the link to see it is about Moss.

I think if you found this information relevant to the F1 community it should have deserved its own thread.

    Why?

I know where this is going and it is irreverent. Stats matter.

PS: I met Moss in person. He is a friend of my best buddy

    ?????
It is an information about the health of Sir Stirling that has nothing to do with the title and theme of this thread. Why the hell are you talking about "stats" and "irreverent"???
Does the information that Moss does not feel well include any comparison with Hamilton???
Sorry, sometimes I do not get your intentions....

Why not sort it out in the open?

If people have problems with my posts, they should say so and explain why.
