I have about 3 hours before my flight out of bologna airport.
I am not far from either modena or santa agata bolognese. But i am concerned i will spend more time in taxi rather that looking at something interesting.
    Can i have a recommendation ?
Is there something interesting and supercar relayed in bologna ? A museum or a dealer or something ?

Appreciate the advice. I am aheading into bologna now so need views but lunchtime cet.

    Cheers
    Thibaut

Go to the Airport and look at the Lamborghini exposed. Or go, better, have a walk in Piazza Maggiore (the top centre of the city) at the big tourist office and see something Lamborghini related.

And then go up the Asinelli tower (200 yards from piazza Maggiore) to see Bologna from 115 yard high: today the weather is great and maybe you will look Sant'Agata too!

    Have a nice walk

    ciao

You can go in Via de' Pepoli n.1 , Bologna, with a Taxi in few minutes

Maserati was born there, in 1914: you will see the plate on the old building (but nothing else)

    ciao

Time, as always, is the main problem.
A trip from Bologna to Modena takes 55 minutes so you cannot hope to visit something and get back to pick up your flight in time. Also, Sant'Agata Bolognese is at the very best 30 minutes away from Bologna's city center.
But if you're also interested in bikes there's Ducati's Museum in Borgo Panigale that is really close to the Airport. The museum has been renewed and it's now open to the public even without reservation. I've never visited it as it's not one of my favourite brands but i guess it's worth a try. Hope it was helpful.

    A fellow guy from Modena.

There is the Lamborghini family museum (http://www.museolamborghini.com) which is about 25 minutes north of Bologna station. An amazing collection illustrating the diverse nature of the man's creativity, from the Miura to the Pope mobile. The airport is only 20 minutes from the museum. Might be worth looking into hiring a taxi for the whole trip.

Or for some history and art in town, a couple of lesser known but worthwhile options

The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna - museum of art

    and the

Teatro Anatomico, which is a unique 16th century anatomical theatre in the university district.

It's a fantastic museum. Also the factory museum is not bad and 20-25 minute with taxi from the airport

    ciao

Go to the Ducati factory and museum. You need reservations for the tour. Well worth it...

In addition to the tour, have lunch at La Traviata on Via Urbana.
its a place where locals eat.
Try the homemade Gramigna, a local Bolognese dish, you won't forget it.

The Ducati museum is very nice.

Just walking around the portico covered walkways and looking at the ancient family towers is pretty interesting (Bologna is one of very few cities that has never been sacked by invaders or felled by earthquakes, some structures are 11th century).

It was bombed by a B17 squadron in 1944. The "fun" thing was they had to bomb another city rail station but it was covered by cloud, so the bombing squadron dropped its load over Bologna, without any target. They hit the Teatro Anatomico and some buildings in the city centre.

But they didn't destroy too much

    Ciao

I agree with Red Sled. Go to the Lamborghini factory museum. It's on the via Modena. You'll love it.

You are talking about the factory museum. Red Sled was talking about the Lamborghini family museum, much better. It's in Funo, very close to Bologna Airport

    Ciao

I also recommend the Ducati factory museum. Just 10min west of Bologna downtown. If you are really short in time, just visit the museum without the factory tour... well worth it (people at Ducati are also much nicer then their arrogant counterparts in Maranello). just my two cents

These are definitely my top three in Bologna.

I love the sculptures up in the Teatro Anatomico.
