The Paris show was also in October though i'm unsure whether before or after Earls Court. As expected your images [presumably] of Paris 1973 clearly show the LP400 prototype with the single wiper...
Found some older photos taken in Japan. Maybe we can identify some cars... The black white modified is clearly #1120144 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw this car earlier this week. It has appeared on these pages before before referenced as DLA12617 on page 1046 with previous owner and again, with the Kool and the Gang link in post page 1130. Anyway, can we can now link the VIN to the story? Still has the sills, wood panels, the sunroof, gold wheels etc. Much as it was on the back cover of the Kool and the Gang album "Greatest Hits...and More" released in 1988. For the 80's music biz guy for whom an "ordinary" Countach is not a big enough statement! New owner excited. Happy days... Anybody have any stories from back in the day? Andreas Birner says: "Flashback to 1980: The metallic green Lamborghini Countach LP400 s/n 1120084 on export plate from Geneva, Switzerland, parked in front of the Hotel de Paris in Monaco. Unfortunately this Countach was later destroyed in a crash" You've gotta love that livery. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fu/.,[]09\][ awesome looking, burgundy wide striped corduroys, beige jacket, think Tom Petty late 70 s , fantastic,
Not my favorit Countach wheels, but,you got to love these gold mesh BBS rims, very 70 s 911/BMW csi/Capri saxpeed, and so on
Who owns this car today? i remember it was bought years ago by a guy named D.R. i helped him finding a set of original wheels but i see it still has the Gotti rims on.
Howdy again! I am wondering if anyone who knows the whereabouts of my dads ex-Countach. It definitely is an LP500s and was purchased in and around 1982 sold in 1984-5. It was imported into Lebanon and apparently shipped out when the second owner bought her. The only Nero Nero LHD cars I can find on the registry that fit the year are these two. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers. I've been dreaming that one day the owner will let my dad give it a spin That and that I buy him another Lambo of course. ------------------------------- 1982 CLA12490 Black Black| Formerly owned by Rene Leimer. Hey Jimmy! Sorry I've not gotten back to you. Been incredibly busy. I know how much your dad's Countach means to you and I'm hoping maybe Joe or someone could possibly have some details on it! Here's to hoping you can buy it back!
You picked up on that last time I posted pics He bought it from Italy and had to sneak it into Lebanon because of the Civil war. Not long after the war got horribly worse and he sold it for 2 reasons, anyone could have carjacked him and inflation to the Lebanese Pounds struct heavily! (2500% by the end of the war!!) I don't think he'll remember the full details but I'll ask him.
Joe, My mother just told me that they bought it from a guy in Bolonia Italy, second hand with only 2000km. (that makes more sense since there was a huge waiting list and my dad could not have just bought it from the factory) I guess that guy bought it from Milan. My dad sold it in Lebanon and it stayed a little in Lebanon then it disappeared.
Only pics we ever have of it is in Lebanese plates - Oh well, Doesn't look like there is hope because we don't have exact numbers of 1981-1983 Black on Black on silver wheel Countachs do we. In the Registry there are only around 112 CT's in the Database and only 2 matching the description. Best thing I can do is continue to bug my parents to look for any paperwork, but they are so busy working instead of retiring in Lebanon. :\
Quick question for the experts -- what was the last year the P7 rear countach tires were made? Thanks
What is the original paint scheme on the LP 400 above the trapezoid side window? I have seen different designs: A. no black paint at all B: black area parallel to roofline C: black area triangular and diagonal to roofline Also, from which car were the original window cranks on the LP 400 sourced? They all seem to be different from those on later models. And again, I have seen different designs of the cranks on LP 400 Countachs. Image Unavailable, Please Login
was this diagonal pattern consistently on all, I mean 100% of all LP400 cars? The reason I am asking is that even the best LP 400 restaurations seem to ignore this. Also, the earliest LP 400 contemporary photos I could find seem to have an inconsistent pattern here: Countach LP400.lp4006 - HR image at LamboCARS.com or the famous yellow LP 400 brochure car: Lamborghini countach 400. Best photos and information of modification. What about the window cranks? Were those all the same on all LP 400 Countachs?
would be good to know for authenticity. I have seen LP 400´s sell for over 1 million and yet without that tiny triangle blackened.
The window cranks are typical Alfa or FIAT parts supply of the era. B & C can both be factory original, no blackout immediately indicates a repaint with lack of adherence to a basic finishing detail.
A is correct for #1120001, #1120002 and #1120004 ONLY Then it was changing from C to B to C again to B again to C again... depending on the season and the year... (seriously, I'm not joking). Soon I'll be able to give you even better precisions about it, whith all the LP400 VINs this was observed, from period photos. About the window cranks, indeed Alfa or Fiat. They were black until #1120200 (except the two first production cars #1120002 and #1120004). From Wolf's #1120202 until the end (#1120300) they were all chrome. There were many more details (air vents, exhaust grid, hood stem, etc.) "evolving" all along the LP400 production...
