Has anyone specked their new 488 in the new colour ROSSO CORSA METALLIC ? Apparently a greater depth in colour of the Rosso Corsa
Had it on my spider. you really have to look for it to see the difference unlike the triple layer metallic paints such as Rossi formula 1 or Rossi fuoco. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is it worth the extra cost ? I really want the std Rosso Corsa but the dealer said the the metallic version is deeper
It's 12k US; yes I think it's worth the cost. It's a deeper red on an overcast day and gorgeous bright without it being orange on a sunny day. I think it's very much worth the upcharge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is a clear difference. At first glance, no, but with the different lighting, the RC M looks stunning under all conditions whereas the RC (I had the RC 458) looked a lot more dull and hid the lines of the car. The Metallic accentuates those lines much better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a triple layer metallic and 3 other Ferraris in non-metallic Rosso corsa. I was frankly disappointed when I got my RC metallic spider as the difference to the standard RC is not obviously noticeable as opposed to my triple layer TDF. I say save the money or go with a triple layered red.
Here is where my ignorance shows. I actually thought the RC Metallic was a triple layer. Can someone explain the difference?

I understand It's a multi-layer paint process that's very metallic and deep and changes colors under various lighting. You have to tell someone a car is RC metallic for them to really notice as supposed to when you see a multi-layered car, you NOTICE!! It costs around 30k for the paint option. Saw a number of examples at Taylormade and don't think I can ever order a car with "regular" paint.
I've seen it a few times now, and I will concur with those who say the difference is not huge - and imo, not worth the price. If you want a really "deep" red, look for Rosso Fuoco, Rosso Maranello and Rosso Coburn.
Thing is I really want Rosso Corsa but I have always noticed with red solid cars there will always be dull spots at certain angles when viewed. I pointed this out to Ferrari and that's why they advised me on the Metallic. Its obviously not the triple coat but over here still is a 20 K option.
