Yes I needed to shave about a 2 mm on the inside of the valve where the pipe fits. it is close but wanted it to have a perfect seal Take it to any machine shop with a lathe and it will take 10 min
I would not recommend these valves, they need to be modified to match the pipe size of the exhaust and y-pipe otherwise you will have leaks, I have one of these and I'm willing to sell for $100 if someone wants to try.
Erik- I have recently bought the Capristo valve and solenoid kit. I have a 97 three pedal f355 spider. Unfortunately under several tests, with triple checking the vacuum plumbing, and bench testing the solenoid, the valve doesn't open under any conditions. It takes vacuum and closes upon start. But then only rattles a little at about 3000 rpm or when decelerating but won't open under any load (wot, or not). Does the valve require adjustment? Did I receive the correct solenoid?
The instructions from Capristo (unless updated in the past few years) are not the best, but if plumbed correctly it should work fine, and not rattle. I had an instance when it would not open (closed all the time), I found the pins on the connector to the Pierburg solenoid valve were in poor condition. I re-pinned them using Dave Helms gold connector kit and restored function. So in my case the Pierburg solenoid was not getting an electrical signal, so the valve could not open. This surprised me, as Capristo said the only failure mode would result in an open valve, that is not the case in my experience. It will only fail in the open mode if the vacuum hose becomes detached.
Hi Ed, I believe we are emailing, correct? just making sure this is the same instance. Let me know. I will also post the results of this issue ASAP for everyone for future reference. Thank You Erik Krammer 561-262-2876
