Robin's Nest with Obama: is there a 308 GTS too?

Here in Italy newspapers says that former USA president Barak Obama will retire in the "Robin's nest", the Hawai big villa where Magnum P.I. TV series was filmed. They say he paid 8,7 M USD for the "Robin's nest".

So, do you think he got a 308 GTS too? Did he buy that villa just because it's big or also because he likes Magnum P.I. TV series and 308 GTS too?

I don't know anything about him, I'm Italian and I hate politics, so I have no idea of what he is in the private life: does he like Ferrari and 308? Will he live there or that is just a bullsh@t?

The Obama's have purchased a large home (aka mansion) in Washington DC. I'm sure he will attempt to stay on the payroll of the money peddler's that have supported him during his tenure in the White House. I'm sure he will land with a local law firm as both he and she hold law licenses.

 

Apparently just appliance-type cars which have become celebrity cars to little avail.

He's been a successful guy, served his country for 8 years as POTUS, which is a hard job no matter what your personal feelings are about how he did it.

I say if he wants to retire to Robins Nest, wear OP shorts and Aloha shirts, race around in a GTS, and spend his leisure time kayaking in the ocean, then more power to him!

Honestly, can you imagine if he really did that? It would be pretty fantastic.

The house was purchased by an LLC controlled by one of his top lieutenants/advisors, Chicagoan Marty Nesbitt. From a strictly real estate perspective, not beyond reason that Obama may be the actual Owner. If that bears out, then - politics aside - any time a celebrity or public figure makes use of our cars, the publicity can't be a bad thing. He looked pretty at ease driving the vintage corvette in Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and, from a PR standpoint, we all should only hope he picks up a 308 for the estate. Whether or not you like him, a former US president tooling around in a Magnum PI car would unquestionably raise the 308's profile.

Obama only comes to visit Hawaii around Christmas, and causes major traffic jams wherever he goes. Don't think he has any interest in cars. He's probably more interested in dolls, sewing, cooking, etc.

1 thing I do give him credit for is going to Sandy's. This beach is a tad dangerous. 2 deaths, and 1 paralyzed from the neck down just last year. Big fun.

Back on topic, it can only be a good thing that Robin's Nest comes out of the shadows. I walked along the beach there in the late 80's and looked in through the gate; I was surprised that the layout is a mirror image of what they would have you believe from watching the show. It's also a lot smaller.

Last time I was on Oahu, my wife and I went to Robin's Nest for something to do. Diane took a photo of me pretending to pick the waterfront gate lock just like the first scenes in p.i. A corny tourist shot.

It is clear, when you visit, that the property is just one element in an elaborate movie set. While the front and rear gate are there and Magnum would have spun his tires on the courtyard grounds, his boat house residence is pure fiction. The boat house on the property is a small hollow shack; not the comfortable two level abode depicted in the tv series.

 

It looked pretty run down, even in 1988. Has it been renovated?
