Laguna is for established racing fans.

Vegas would be a way of appealing to new racing fans.

I think Vegas is the wise choice too. It'd also give us all a good excuse to drop in on the Vegas FChat crowd. ;)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    Vegas is basically the opposite of Spa;

it ticks all the boxes except one. Spa ticks none of the boxes, except one.

I would LOVE LOVE to see F1 on Laguna Seca. That circuit is marvelous, will never forget my time there.

Many European F1 circuits were once like you describe LS: in the middle of nowhere, little infrastructure, etc.etc., however, they evolved and became great grand prix hosts. I don't see why LS cannot also become a great F1 venue with some investment.

Sincerely, as a motorsport fan, I don't see street circuits as true racing. Las Vegas will be purely a grand prix for those who don't know a **** about motorsport but will be there just for the bells and whistles.

Laguna Seca is a marvelous track for the events that it holds currently and yes with little or maybe alot of investment( widen the track, safety barriers, pit lane?????, getting it to FIA/F1 standards) would make it viable...I just don't know about the surrounding infrastructure(holding 260,000+ in a 3 day time frame)...but if someone is willing to foot the bill then I am all for it.

Vegas could be a street circuit or IMO they can build a new circuit close to the city....maybe close to Nellis AFB and every now and then you get a fly-over of American Power...or half in the city and half in the desert.....the sky is the limit when it comes to a night race in Vegas....and talk about a laser light show or 3D/4D holographic show???

There are corners and elevations at Laguna Seca that you don't find anywhere else.

That a track is in the middle of nowhere is a bonus for me; I want to escape the city, not going to watch racing there. As for accommodation, in my youth I used to camp near the tracks in Europe, and finished attending GPs with a camper van as part of a holidays. Far more convivial than a hotel, IMO, to stay among fans, share barbecue, yarn about racing, exchange opinions, etc...

I don't like street circuits, they offer no features and the races are held between concrete walls.

Just do it in Daytona and make it work with the high bankings for longer periods of time that the Clienti cars didn't do this past December. The infrastructure is there and there are direct flights from Europe and central/south america to Orlando for international fans to get there easier. Plus, it's an easy sell to families. The kids and mom go to Disney while dad is in Daytona at the track. ;)

Laguna Seca has a tough enough time hosting the Monterey historics. I think they like being under the radar.

If it was such a great place to run an F1 race there, they never would have constructed COTA. Paying $400 a night for the Motel 6 in Salinas is not going to cut it.

I agree. Too bad, but Laguna is a state park. Not going to happen.

Laguna Seca is not an option for lack of infrastructure for fans. Same goes for Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta and Road America.

Las Vegas or NY is the only real answer

There's 9 daily Flights from UK(Home of F1) to Orlando carrying a lot of F1 fans.
Plus there's many direct flights to other european cities. It would cost them less
money to come stay 2 weeks in Orlando than other parts of Europe :)

The kids can go to Disney while the adults go to F1. ;)

The kids can go to Disney while the adults go to Mons Venus and the other strip clubs. ;)

I-4 corridor FTW. :) It would be the perfect 1-2 week trip for families. There's a short trip for Miami, too, for those that want south beach.

Keep in mind that any of this is at least 3 years away at the earliest.
