'78 308- I'm looking to hook the choke cable back up but I have nothing to start with. Is there a curved pipe that's a continuation of the outer cable attached to the firewall? Any help is appreciated, Tom
Here are some photos from my 1978 308 GTS USA model. I did not connect the actual wires when I installed my engine (wire from choke cable to engine compartment and the two wires that connect the two carbs side by side). Starts fine with a couple of pumps from the accelerator pedal. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
tune it right and keep the carbs synchronized and you won't need the choke. the damn thing binds, and causes more trouble than it is worth; you're better off without it....imho
Hey Joe- Thanks- the little piece I'm missing is the female that the outer cable rests in in at at the carb top. Hey Jet- I get it, I've had the car for 12 years and it starts. I just want to sort it for originality even if I don't connect it. I have the console out and the air filter out so it's sort of now or never. thanks guys, Tom
I suspect that the part is tough to find. It appears to be a Ferrari part, as opposed to a Weber part. The good thing is that you don't need the choke if you have a well tuned carb set-up and if you find the part later it can easily be installed just by removing the airbox. The piece just rests on the top cover and is held on with one screw. I disconnected my choke but left the wire within the tube from console to firewall. I just clamped the bare wire to the round tube going across the firewall. Good luck.
I think I know where I hid that part away! Until you posted the pic I hadn't made the connection. The cars starts and runs fine but now is the time to do this as I don't look forward to taking the console apart again. Thanks again.
Sorry for the bad picture, but the housing goes straight ahead through the firewall IMO. Image Unavailable, Please Login
