The 488 replacement is years away. Plenty of time for them to react and come out with a great successor. Problem is they are now reacting and not being proactive. If the next car is a turbo with a carbon fiber tub, we'll--- too little too late. Regardless exciting times for the end user.

God I hope. Imagine picking one up for under $200k next year. Heaven.

They are close. One used one with 18k miles asking 189. Granted some high miles but we are getting there.

They have had air-to-water intercoolers since the 12C, cooled by radiators located in the nose of the car.

The vents on the sides of McLaren's up to this point have fed air to the primary radiators for engine coolant.

As long as reliability is there and the car was well taken care of, that kind of mileage doesn't scare me. If it was 18k miles on a used s class you'd consider it near new. We all need to drive our exotics more. Let's use them for how they were intended. Be the generation to end garage queens. It's crazy how many 4 year old 458's have under 5k miles. I drove mine over 5k miles last year alone.

From the little I can tell, it looks much better than the previous spy shots.

There is a yellow spider with less than 4K miles asking 208k. Sub 200 is not too far away. Coupes are already less than 200k

    Me too, Mark.

Just hope there's NO similarities, looks-wise, to the Huayra!

You can pick up new 650S spider's with MSRP's in the 310 to 320 range for around 250k new right now. Not under 200k yet as some are looking for but brand new, no miles, never titled and full warranty.

The 720S sounds like it's going to leave the 488GTB a bit behind and by the time Ferrari has their answer to it, Mclaren will probably be within a year of releasing their follow up to the 720S. Mclaren said the 720S was a 2 generation leap model and it certainly sounds like it from all the info gathered thus far.

That said, when it comes to performance I think these cars are still close enough that mere mortal drivers won't know the difference on or off track. It will mostly come down to what you feel looks better and how each car drives.

I'm sure the 488 and 720S both have very distinct personalities on and off track and one may feel more comfortable than the other for some.

Looking forward to test driving the 720S and making a final decision to go with Mclaren or the 488 for the next ride. First world problems....

It would appear from a quick review that the 488 does its primary engine cooling at the nose of the car, leaving the air-to-air intercoolers alone to be fed by the side vents.

In this photo leaked from the press event you can just about struggle to read a small "720S" badge on the wing on the door.

Yep and they're called charge coolers instead of inter coolers. P1 same way.

McLaren has been very high tech from the get-go and progressing rapidly. Hydraulic suspension also quite impressive. Can't wait to drive it.

Its a huge pity that the leaked picture makes this car look like the automotive equivalent of a fish out of water.

Figures might be fantastic but I suspect the styling isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea.

Totally agree - the new car is raw including exhaust popping etc from 675, Spider will hold up better as i think 720 spider will be hard to design effectively due to glass cabin on coupe.
