I wish my business would rely on good taste and style but that's not the case so I wonder if I'm the son of a minor god. The fact that professionally I'm not as blessed as you are and I rely just on technology, is the reason why when I'm away from work I like to be surrounded by well designed and good looking objects like a Ferrari. Like you I find the TDF one of the best looking Ferraris of all times and I can tell you the secret that I haven't yet lost hope of having one.

 

I'm also going to Geneva. But more as a dreamer than a future buyer!

I think we could make a FerrariChat meetup on the Ferrari stand? What do you think guys?

 

I'll admit I wasn't a fan of the F12 rear when I first saw it at the Geneva show Loved the front, hated the rear - but the car was a radical departure from the 599 and they nailed it. Ferrari's designs tend to grow on you over time. They are one of the few car companies truly constantly pushing the envelope in terms of design - and people become attached to what they already know.

Since you are addressing options, glitches, in-production upgrades, then I would offer for example the F12b itself. Maybe I am uninformed but not aware of any of such changes from 2013 to present that would impact long term ownership. Only thing that I remember changing is minor increase in display resolution which certainly doesn't have an impact if even owners are aware. There was the magnetic charger spot which some have complained about and others like but can't really think of any changes worth waiting longer for. To the opposite, the early cars were produced during LDM era and the latter is all sweater. Perhaps you are aware of examples.

So because the 'market' which is composed of like 300 mostly nouveau rich guys bids up the price it must be a great looking car? It also is an utter shame that the economic value of these cars has become the number 1 priority for owners(people might deny it but the misers who dominate this market sure care).

Some of the most hideous looking artwork ever produced by man is bid to stratospheric levels. Its only a sign of our times where in the past people of the socioeconomic plane were seen as low are now elevated as the ones to emulate(as I said Americanism ruined the world).

In my opinion the front mount V12 must give off an aurora of elegance first and foremost and secondly some level of maturity, it really is silly seeing some 60+ year old thinking hes still 17 years old(American youth cult). Clean lines without excessive aero gimmicks since the car doesn't need to prove anything being a V12 already. Elegance is all about proper proportions which the TDF just doesn't have. The fact that Ferrari had to go back 60 years to look for inspiration really tells you the state of modern car design(desperation?)...

As for options, at least in the UK, the list has grown between 2013 and 2016 - from Apple Car Play, HELE to seat specs.

 

Interesting and thanks. Infotainment aside, not experienced the shoe wedge but will look for it. Pretty minor stuff though as opposed to long term ownership. Was thinking more related to drivetrain, performance, quality increase, options. I think the car has been pretty stable since introduction. Never understood why they didn't upgrade the brakes during production. Even the multi-million dollar F60 has same brakes as F12b when 458S and latter the SA as well as Laf were sporting the upgrade. Not that there's the slightest bit wrong with them but to continue to produce the flagship without some advances along the way in general seems odd.

 

Thanks for the update. Desirability, being subjective, is open to personal opinion I suppose with HELE being very undesirable. The seat specs seem interesting. I do recall something changed on the race seats?

So far we Know some things regarding the technical specifications but except the plates no leaked or other image of the car has been showed up. The preview events have begun since the end of January and keep running. Do we Know until when? Because when the previews come to an end, I believe that ferrari will publish the first pictures.

Go back to the earliest formation of human settlements, being "nouveau" is what turned them into the megacities of today. Economic value has always been a key human benchmark of success. It makes the world go round.

Americanism; what are you talking about? Even hard-nosed communists privately wanted the very best for their own families.....visit the stunning Kremlin Museum and wonder how the incredible jewels of long departed Czars still exist.

Per the TDF, I took mine out over the weekend - in crap winter conditions - to a car meet up near Cambridge, England and had nothing but gushing compliments from hard-nosed Lambo, Porsche, Macca and Audi owners. I presume your view is they too have no regards for "proper proportions".

And regarding design desperation, 60 year's ago there was no compliance other than I assume you don't blow up your drivers/passengers. Today I can't begin to imagine the compliance challenges facing the likes of Mr Manzoni and others. Personally rather than thinking their designs are desperate, I think they're incredible. Oh, and since I'm only 50+ I presume I'm still allowed to still feel young.

Having a difference of opinion is great. But you seem angry about ****. Don't be. It eats you from the inside, delivers nothing sweet and doesn't make a bloody difference anyway.

The TDF clearly wasn't designed to be an elegant car. It's form had to follow function.
So simply be glad there isn't a truly massive wing on the front and back. The TDF to me is the perfect combo of design meets function. An olympic musclebound sprinter in a tight italian handmade suit. Unbeatable combo only Ferrari (and perhaps Pagani) can design.

If we all liked the same design, the world would be a very grey place. Let's celebrate our differences!
