Ah I think I got a good idea of the design now. Sounds nice. When you say regular rubber. Do you mean just MPSS F12 tyres? Had hoped to see the new MPSS successor in a slightly wider form.
Thnaks Scraggy and Carlom for the info. Beginning to get a better understanding now. Very glad to hear words like classy and elegant still being used which is what differentiates the brand, as I always had the concern they might be tempted to the dark side(Lamboesque) but it sounds not. It would appear to be more like an everyday tdf performance wise but wrapped up as a hyper GT leaving the tdf in its own special visceral niche. It will fit in just fine in the garage.
Thank you Carlom001 and Scraggy! Your thoughts are much appreciated. I'm really excited to see this car and for more information! Yes, I agree, Ferrari is really at the top of their game. My dealer asked if I'd like one and of course I said yes! PS- thanks for asking about the PF link. I think that all makes sense. However from my stand point, and admitting I don't know the details, I think it would have been nice if they could have bought PF and then continued to put the PF badge on the cars, maintaining the heritage. But, lets face it, if these new cars look good, no one will really be too upset. MDEL, I agree this will show us more of how they will go forward, but a small point I would like to make- even though the FDC did the "M" in its entirety, they are still working with the hard points (or so I think) from the F12B. I think the first really 100% from the frame out design will be probably the Cali T replacement, which should be a whole new platform- maybe that will be the first of the modular platform cars? Anyway, thanks again everyone for the fascinating and involving discussion. Its very special.
Thanks for the great posts today from the guys lucky enough to be at Maranello this week. I agree with Caeruleus that this has been a fascinating & special discussion. The new design sounds stunning. I have a 488 due in May, but have been tempted by this thread into a dialogue with my dealer about the F12M waiting list!!
Just 3 months and nearly 175,000 views, no sign of the car and no sign of any flagging in enthusiasm. What other car company could do this with a 'mid life'. A blast.
Ahah so true... it's becoming a ritual... the first informations... Ingegnere's facial composites,Marcel's first details... the private unveiling (With our spy heroes trying to describe the car the best they can )... the first picture leaks... the unveiling... the first specifications... the first deliveries. For me it started already seven years ago (Time flies) with the GTO I'm not an owner but I F______n' love it. Viva FerrariChat
Thanks and thanks for the info - can't wait to see pics of the real deal as I'm getting tired of imagining all the shapes and wondering what details will surprise. Hope it looks like Daytona and is called Daytona. And to all those getting one: congratulations and enjoy in good health! +1 + Red Sled, Challenge64 and others... As in aero-tunnels instead of fender gills or vents for lift reduction? Good description, I get it. Are the wheels directional? (Were they on 512M)? In any case, sounds like confirmation that the pics I posted earlier are of F12M because wheels fit description: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Scraggy, Carlo and others for your info. Slightly concerned about the wheel design. I think the tdf wheel style is perfect and would like to see something very similar.
That's great news. Reinforces my opinion of the GTC4's as the new teams early work/feedback driven mistake, as opposed the start of a bad direction overall. Can't wait to see it and congrats to those who will own one.
I think everyone has given a good idea of what the car is about without breaching too much confidentiality. I thought it was wonderful, and a really excellent demonstration of why Ferrari is Ferrari. Lots of fun to be had configuring it mind as there are a lot of details inside and out, and the lighting of the event may be misguiding on initial impressions. Cannot wait to see it in natural daylight and on the road. Everyone will want one..... Well done Ferrari very impressive.
Sooo true!! Im liking the bitter sweet/curiousty killed the cat feeling-- the anticipation is heavy and Ferrari will always make me feel like a kid on xmas eve!!! Im looking forward to seeing it at Geneva on the 14th... Its going to be a fun next few months with colours/specs/ etc... I may have to reduce my working day by an hour a day to make time for all the views im going to be reading on Fchat. infact I may as well cancel my sky subscription as I wont be watching tv --yum yum!! childish I know, but im feeling v excitable!!
Every day is almost like Christmas indeed.... And to think we're all grown ups here! Geneve can't come soon enough as my wife is also becomming fed up with "that ************ all the time!"
There are no ugly vents grills and holes the air is routed through neat narrow channels with small grills or bodywork apertures and by the front lights
