About the name why Ferrari can't use a name who approach V12 with 70th anniversary? A name who celebrate 70 years of history just with a V12 berlinetta, one of the most famous Ferrari's product

I was told something similar. Ultimo Q3 and on for the first LHD cars here in Europe. This due to the production of the TdF and those Lussos already on order.

Tim is right, they have to make 350 extra, special cars for the 70th anniversary, so thats bound to slow things up.

According to Autocar article production will run only until end of 2019 with around 1200 cars made. Also special version with 80 - 100 cars.

It seems that this car will have a production scheme more similar to an LE car... I mean it seems difficult to get an allocation, and the production numbers will be low...

Someone at Autocar has not been paying attention to this thread. I guess they needed a story of some sort. Just because Sergio says every new Ferrari by 2019 will be hybrid, does not mean that A: That's the case, and B: It means that every Ferrari that is launched past 2019 will be hybrid. Seeing how many new cars Ferrari has to launch between now and 2022, makes it damn near impossible.

Not even counting VS cars here's a list as I think it will be.

    2017 F12N (Non hybrid)
2018 V6 FR model (non hybrid)
    2019 Cali T replacement (hybrid)
    2020 488 replacement (hybrid)
    2021 GTC4 replacement (hybrid)
    2022 F12M replacement (hybrid)

Then there's a bunch of facelifts and VS cars on the side at Paris and Frankfurt

How on earth would Ferrari manage to build an F12M replacement by then? Not to mention that it would be down right idiotic to first spend all this time and money on the F12M and then only run it for two years. And 1200??? Christ, they made 2/3rds. f that in TdFs alone, and the Sweater is all about increasing production.

I wonder what went on in the head of that Autocar jounalist...

Only 140 of those will be on the V12 line. The rest will be based on 488s and Cali Ts.

    Poor journalism.

I hear the new Cali T will be with us sooner than you think, late this year or early next at the latest. That's the one possible hole they currently have in their sales and so badly needs a new car. That would mean all your years could be backdated by 1 which I think is more likely. Also what V6 FR are you referring to?

As for the Cali T replacement, I think it will go a bit like this.

A Cali 30 style Cali T will be presented in Frankfurt. After that a new car with a TT V6 vill debut at Geneva 2018. Then the Cali T "30" and the V6 car will have a short run together. Then in 2019 the V6 TT car will come in a hybrid V8 version that will replace the Cali T "30".

I may be completely wrong, but that's my take on it.

Would one of the people who saw this just post a pic already maybe under a new account if they feel they will get 'blacklisted'?

    We know you have them!

Thanks Scraggy for continuing to indulge us with your comments and observations - much appreciated.

@ Ferrari: we're pretty sure we've nailed the shape and specs already, so just present the car on-line already! ;-)

The V12 line has been producing about a thousand cars a year for a while so the current estimate is about typical for 2-3 years production with the rest being 4 seat & a few LE

I was just about to post a similar response having read the article http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motor-shows-geneva-motor-show/2017-ferrari-f12-m-due-geneva-final-naturally-aspirated-v12

Where do these journalists get their"facts" ???

Testarossa had the flat 12 engine at the other end of the car compared to the new V12 model. The original Testa Rossa was a convertible and Ferrari seem loath to build many V12 convertibles. Maybe they could save the T R name for a limited edition convertible. They already are using the Lusso name again for starters. We will soon know if this is a new Ferrari model trend or a one off idea.

For a mid 1950's design the Europa has aged very well!

True, but considering they can produce around six V-12 engines a day that means that it will take almost 24 working days to complete the engines for the 70th cars.

I had a chat re 70th at the F12M launch. Huge delays due to custom made capacity (normally 100 a year now 50 regular and 350 on top) and given that the 70th are F12 not F12M and they see 70th F12 still being delivered after Summer close........I think RHD will be Q2 2018.

Makes sense. All very well to push Tailor Made as a major margin enhancer - until you simply can't deliver the volume...
