2017 rules / changes

No aeros mean the cars will be wicked fast down the straights FOR A SHORT DISTANCE-don't forget they will be much slower thru the corners and braking will have to be much earlier due to the lack of aero grip-drivers will actually get to show their skill/balls...passing will be much easier that's for sure.

 

I can see that at a certain time in future people will be interested in seeing what a machine programmed by humans can do more than one piloted by a single person but that time is not now. What about abolishing any active electrical system and make completely mechanical machines? That's the way I would go about F1.

 

I predict it will happen before long.

Some people, and some countries, are absolutely fascinated by high technology, more than by human endeavour.

Robots already have their fans...

Not surprised. He wanted back in England after the tragic death of his wife so good on him.

 

The better just keep getting better. What a well manned team. I dont see them losing the title this year. Id be happy to be surprised though....

 

Reading about Ferraris somewhat desperate attempt to ban Mercs and RB suspension and their seemingly inability to figure it out themselves... that they're apparently worried about their downforce... and reading in between the lines of Pirelli's comments about potential frontrunners, I'm really starting to wonder where Ferrari will end up in the pecking order. I'm wonder if 3rd place is in jeopardy this season. For all the money they get in bonus payments, I just can't believe they're not leading the way.

Granted, the season hasn't even started, but the speculation never seems far from reality in F1.

 

You're right it has not started however Ferrari's hand is not looking favorable.

 

agreed. I might add that since Paddy Lowe is walking into the beginning of this season, 2018 for Williams might garner a 3rd place finish behind RB...IMO. ( I will probably get trashed for this already making predictions for 2018 but oh well)

 

So Allison->Mercedes, Lowe->Williams and now De Beer -> Williams.....WOW!!!!

So I guess it goes something like this....just thinking outloud: " Paddy: "Hey Allison, De Beers was running figures for governing fluid flow equations for laminar air flow over the Williams car moving through the parabolica." "Can you run these figures on your supercomputer and base your findings on close-ended solutions?" "I need them like in 5 minutes." Allison, " Sure, no problem."

This should have been sorted and the tech director from Force India is correct overall about this item.

 

Why is it up to the teams to complain? Shouldn't F1 tech guys inspect every aspect of each car and certify that it meets the regulations? This is so Little League.

 

I think the stewards have deemed it legal.So the ball is in the other teams court now,put up with a protest or shut up.

--Closest rivals Ferrari and Renault both had high hopes of gaining ground this winter, with engine progress considered crucial to the works Ferrari team and Renault customer Renault's hopes of challenging Mercedes for the championship.

But according to Force India technical director Andy Green, Mercedes could have moved even further ahead.

When asked if he expected more power for 2017, Green replied: "Oh yes. That is what we have been promised.--

"It is all part of the data input that goes into all our simulation data.

"Mercedes HPP [High Performance Powertrains] have done a fantastic job over the winter and made another unprecedented step. It is impressive."

It appears the W08 has no "sail/shark fin" in the back according to the brief twitter vid.

 

here is the first pic of the W08....and no pronounced sail/shark-fin....just a slight tab running down the spine

I would think that is not too close to the display machine...if so then it looks ok....

Uh, Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button, and although they tied, I'm pretty sure Fernando Alonso can beat him as well. So maybe Bottas can beat Elton too.

 

+1 LH is by no means an unbeatable force. Bottas has an amazing chance to accelerate his career in F1 this year. The pairing to watch no doubt!
