Pitchers and catchers reporting in Jupiter FL. Whoohoo !!

Cardinal Nation crosses its fingers for a marginally better year than 2016.

Says someone who roots for a team that's won something like a dozen & change World Series! [emoji6]

Actually, I like Cards fans. Great battles with the Mets back in the 90s. Enthusiastic. I went to a three game series years back at Old Busch, in full Mets regalia, and the Mets swept. Got some good natured heckling, but enjoyed myself. Cards fans are very knowledgeable and acknowledge good play, by either team. Great chatting with them. Love the radio guys. Mike Shannon. Especially when he was with Jack Buck, coming in over KMOX.
    Now, Phillies fans...[emoji33]

all the people in St. Louis are nice to strangers because they figure they are second or third cousins.

That comment will not do much to dispell the stereotypes about Philly fans!

Tom it's a compliment! Honest! People born in St. Louis almost never leave the town their entire lives. "Where did you go to high school?" I meant they treat strangers like family. Philly fans are the kindest, gentlest and most generous sports fans on the face of the earth.

I went to a Phils game back in the 70's that was advertised as "Golf Night". They gave away a sleeve (3 balls) of some incredibly cheap golf ball to something like the first 20.000 fans. The Phils of course were getting beat in the game and I remember a close call on the bases. where the Phillies' guy was called out but all the fans were certain he was safe...and I'll give you three guesses what happened next.

Mets right there with you. Bad pitching, bad defense, lots of injuries = long year.

    Mike Trout

Why should teams even bother to pitch to him. He is the entire Angels offense. Trout has no protection in the lineup. Just imagine what he could do, if he actually had someone who was hitting behind him. I wish we could trade our entire farm system for him :D.

It's not looking good. If the Mets really wanted to do some institutional soul searching, they need to start with their medical and training staff. Granted that a rash of injuries is just a part of sports from time to time, but the rate and frequency that the Mets find their players, especially pitchers, on the DL borders on statistical improbability, and needs a major re-evaluation from the top on down...T

I'm at a garage getting my Mom's car sorted out and a guy comes in wearing a Phillies genuine Chase Utley jersey. I have on a Phils cap. We nod to each other and I say something like "Tough Year...like the shirt." He says: "Wanna buy it"? Gotta love those Philly fans

Keep your eye out for Eshelman

He has pin-point control and walks nobody. He is in your minor league system and is having a good year.

Tonight's game reminded me that I need to add crap-tastic bullpen and lack of clutch hitting to the list of reasons this could be a long season...T

I don't follow the NL all that much. Thumbs up to Bryce Harper. I am not sure if he landed a good punch. Someone will think twice before beaning him again ;).

FYI - Astros scored 11 runs in the 8th inning :D.
