    Hi,

this thread is really hot for sure, and I am definitely interested in your OFT... depending on whether you have my original calibration or not, as I am located in EU and I am not shipping the ECU back and forth. But this is my private interest, and I will maybe contact you on this.

I have instead two questions that may have a "public interest" in our forum:
    1) I read that your OFT gives the chance to retrieve the OEM calibration and restore it anytime. Can you confirm? And will one be able to switch back and forth for as may times as he wants?
    2) If the answer to the above is yes I can imagine one would restore OEM calibration before technical inspections, or Ferrari services; in case of Ferrari service, would the dealer be able to detect an ECU access?

I hope my questions are clear enough and the wording is correct; also I hope they are not replied already during the thread, I checked it my best and didn't find the answers...

    Thanks a lot.

I too will be purchasing a 2012+ Italia based on the info in this thread and getting the OFT tune. I have been waiting on a solution to this for several years now. Thank you so much for all the great info!

Now I'm not sure if my 2011 has been flashed. I need to hear what a flashed 458 sounds like. I do have burbles when decelerating but not sure if all 458s have that to some extent. Was there a campaign number that was done that had this flash in it? I can check my service records. I see 3 or 4 campaigns that were done.

I'm sure my 2014 458 is running with the newer software, but I still get "some" burbles and pops when decelerating with my exhaust valves open, and none when they are closed (remote controlled).

    Hi guys,
Just got back this morning from Hawaii (red eye flight). Here's a little video i put together this morning. It was taken from inside the car on the way back from Petco :) It's easy to mistake the exhaust burbles for wind noise. But it's all burbles. I have some drive by videos that do a better job at showing what it sounds like from the outside. But this video does a good job of showing what it sounds like from inside thew car while driving casually. It's very pleasant and not at all obnoxious. Things get a bit louder and with more crackles when driving harder (more exhaust heat). I'll have another video up soon showing just that as well.

Here is a video capturing a few drive-bys in front of my house. It does a much better job of capturing how it sounds from outside. Since the burbles trigger during zero throttle/engine braking conditions, you'll hear them mainly during coasting downhill bits. You may here a brief burble or two between shifts going up the hill.

I don't expect to flash the ECU on Sunday itself. I just want to determine the calibration code first. We still want to pull the ECUs and back up the EPROM data first and that will have to be done on another day in the near future.

Carlo will need to reply but doesn't sound like his car. Perhaps due to added exhaust.

Yes it will sound a lot more muted with stock exhaust-- even with the valves kept open. I have headers and cat bypasses going in next Friday. My worry is that it will make the burbles too loud/harsh. I like the fact that, with the stock exhaust; the burbles sound pleasant and not fatiguing to the ears.

    Dear Shiv,

Do you have the valves permanently open in the two videos you posted?
    Thanks for letting us know!

Btw it would perhaps help if you also gave us a gopro video next to the exhaust
with a little more spirited driving at higher rpm's to really be able to gauge the pops
    created by the tune.

Last but not least there is a way to blip the throttle upon deceleration in 1st, 2nd and
3rd gears which will create strings of pops, I think I should do a tutorial video of this
    technique LOL

Will post some vids in my next post.

Ok here are sound videos with incremental levels of exhaust tune, remember
I am running full tanks of 100 to 101 Aki octane which gives more pops since
more unburnt fuel hits the exhaust.

Tried to put videos of the car driving and engine under load.

This is with 100% stock exhaust, open valves, 100 Aki
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m63CtW2sAPE
(btw the throttle blip technique I was ref. to earlier happens at 0:15)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWc2AdErGco
(remember strings of pops only happen in 1, 2 and 3rd gears only)

This is with Innotech headers, open valves, 100 Aki, still stock cats
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEUXy-XTbrw

This is current exhaust spec. with 200 cell cats and bmc air filter

Fwiw I think Shiv's videos sound very promising, even better
if we get high rev GoPro exhaust footage after the install
of the cat bypass (headers won't do much to add pops, might
as well leave stock if all one wants is to increase these) :) :)

All that crackling, popping, and backfiring makes the car sound like there is something wrong with it...because there is. Ferrari corrected the defect in 2012 and upgraded the 2010 and 2011 cars to get rid of the problem.

Why anyone would want his Ferrari to backfire is a mystery to me.

The valves are aren't permantently open in may car. I've mapped the exhaust valve control tables to the open the valves at closed throttle when engine speed is greater than 2500rpm. The are closed during cruise and light load but then open up again when you dig into the throttle or get revs above 3000rpm. A slightly more aggressive mapping than the standard rain/sport set-up. But just as quiet during cruise but deeper during decel and more eager to get loud with function of throttle. I could make them stay open all the time but this is my daily driver so it's nice to retain some civility. I like burbles, not so much loud bangs and pops. But to each his own!

I can take some videos similar to the ones you posted. The bur burbles get much louder when you get some heat into the exhaust (from driving hard). I have a nice stretch of road that I rip through on the way to the gym. I wasn't able to do today since i was stuck in the office catching up after a taking the week off for vacation. And it's supposed to rain the next few days so my plans may be thwarted once again lol. I'll definitely record the video before the test pipes go in next week. I have a feeling I'll be welding in some race cats before too long!

I'm sure Lambo engineers are reading this wondering why they built in such a compelling feature to the Huracan....

Thanks for the update Shiv; I think you def. need to post some vids with the valves
permanently open: why don't you just install a valve controller?

Looking fwd. to more vids, and stay dry! :)
