I just posted this on the other thread. Delighted to see the very positive reaction, so somewhat contentiously.........Well I hate to say this but for me that spec is the worst you could have on this car, black holes and all and consequently does this design no favours at all. Novitec springs to mind which for me to say is almost treasonous. Bear in mind I am in the U.K. and so therefore a little more conservative in taste terms. What I take from this is that there are so many inlets and contrasting details that I don't think you can afford to exaggerate them like you needed to do with the tdf. The tdf is such a wonderfully homogenous design, that personally I think is the best Ferrari have produced since the 275, whereas this simply does not hang together, it is not cohesive. Aero has triumphed over aesthetic. This is a car which is very colour sensitive and Ferrari need to have a one in a dark colour as well as the launch colour on their stand, as with less of a contrast, I think the car could look stunning. I understand now why everyone raved about the matte grey car. I also know that no way do I want an early car as I don't want to spec this from the configurator, I want to see other real schemes before I make my choice but leaning more in the GS or even Pozzi zone to go more GT. I attach an image from Caeruleus to make the point and I also think the white car posted was terrible. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow...it really does look different...the renders gave me a different feel. I need to re-calibrate. Agree on the black holes here. This particular spec needs black stripes.
Also, Ferrari's presentation showed a very linear progression of the models from the last 25 years in terms of power to weight ratio. The 812 will be a good step ahead of the F12M which itself was a good step ahead the 599.
So went in to my dealer yesterday and they had to stop taking deposits as they are already over their allocation
That's actually an ugly angle of it. Looks like someone attached a large rear body kit over another car.
Assuming this is a show car, it appears that the rear lights have been blackened a la Novitec? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those pics are already posted up in the other thread. And Giallo M does nothing for that car - but then again, it did nothing for the F12B, FF or Lusso either, or the other FRV12 cars for that matter. Leave the yellow for the mid-V8 cars.
Must stick with book values or you will have to conduct your own comprehensive testing. Cant pick and choose. Same with top speed.
Car is overstyled imo.. looks more like something that might come out of the lambo studio. F12, TdF, 458 will go down as among the most beautiful cars in Ferrari history.
The rear does indeed look lambo-like with the sharp angles etc.....rear window also looks/seems more takes than the F12B.....anyone who has seen it confirm ?
Same observation. It seems the car comes stock with black taillights. if you look closely on the release psictures they are not red anymore...
I'm being strictly objective here, gents: We're all on this forum with many many knowledgeable people from all walks of life with different tastes, but the same uniting passion: Ferrari. Being the mid-life successor to the iconic F12 Berlinetta is no easy task, but the 812 Superfast now represents the company's V12 flagship (quite possibly being the last un-assisted N/A V12) and as such, needs / demands to be breathtaking both under the hood & everytime we lay eyes on her. No one can dispute the 812's technical numbers & astonishing power, but her esthetics have been "controversial" since the release (to say the least). If her design is truly timeless, I gather the majority of us would be overwhelmingly positive at first sight ~ but yet, I've read comparisons to Lamborghini, Corvette, Viper, Lexus, Nissan, & even Tesla (yikes!). I understand & appreciate the whole "must see it in the flesh" approach, but what has me concerned is that we wouldn't be saying all this if we truly loved the design & feel of the new car at first sight ... and we wouldn't be saying "it will look better in dark colors". The elegance, simplicity, sensuality, femininity, & timelessness of Pininfarina are certainly not evident here, in what appears to be the new direction of Ferrari's design team. But aren't these the very elements of why we so dearly love Ferrari in the first place? Of course, the above are just my honest humble opinions & are not meant to be antagonistic nor disrespectful ... I want to congratulate all those getting the new 812 Superfast & those who are keeping their F12 Berlinettas
Overall considered I like the 812! However, imo its weak point it the rear. It seems kind of ridiculous, too exaggerated, behind all the edges and holes is no engine, there is only luggage. In this regard I see the F12 in the advantage, much more front-mid engine GT-stylisch, an honest dog.
At first I thought it was because the contrast with the yellow made them look darker. I hope they are just capitalising on what the likes of Novitec do and that the darker tail lights is an option otherwise it will be difficult to achieve the modern classic GT look I prefer.
