Not sure I like the shape of that steering wheel. Its the same as the GTC4 and I think the 'metal" part doesn't look great at all. Would definitely need to have carbon in my opinion.

Agreed, it looked pretty cheap in metal in the preview car. The carbon. Redoing looks a lot better.

IMHO when one takes a carbon steering wheel there at least needs to be more of carbon inside the car, 2 items a bare minimum, preferably 3. That is for the interior 'harmony', making sure things done stand out in a negative way, balance things out.
Therefore, when there are metal pieces on the steering wheel and that metal comes back on the dashboard (which it usually does), it is not bad as there is that balance.

I am not a big fan of carbon as it is becoming a hype (my issue is more with the hype than the carbon :) Unfortunately one only can get the LEDs when one choses the carbon wheel, well that's what I was told.

Yes I had a 575SA with the awful F1 box and HGTC, not great. That said I would not say no to a 599 SA !

This is correct but as usual Ferrari charges a ridiculous amount for the privilege of being a little different!

Yes, someone also on this forum has posted his F12B steering wheel with the leather wrappred LEDs and said this is an "extra campionario" option.

Hmmmmmm....the back end of the yellow 812 (in the real world shots) looks really clumsy. Lots of folds and 'stuff' going on. I gotta admit, I'm not loving it. At least not yet.

I think I am in the (insignificant) minority who thinks Aluminium feels much higher quality than plasticky carbon and is also the more fitting choice for a car with an Aluminium chassis - good for me if I want to buy used as many people discount it as low quality

Completely agree. I think it's very tacky looking as it does not serve a technical purpose what so ever, and don't like the feel as well. I especially hate the fact that the interior bits or just plastic laminated with wet CF rather than proper 100% dry CF pieces. Give me a nice metal piece any day. I'm not even sure those glossy interior CF parts are the slightest bit lighter than the alu parts. Wet CF is actually quite heavy - something in the order of 70-75% more so than a comparable dry CF piece. Add the plastics and who knows what those CF bits add up to. A thin piece of aluminium is actually very light by any comparison. I'd love it if they added an option for real magnesium trim bits. Super light with a great classy look and a very nice feel.

But then aluminium probably doesn't help when you want to sell.

I used to love C/F but unfortunately its original rarity has now become somewhat mainstream so I hope they offer some alternative finishes., not just the silver aluminium and C/F.

You can in fact also get the aluminium wheel with LED. I've yet to see it, but I was told it's an option like the leather LED.

I am determined to not have a single piece of CF in the 812 I spec. I am so over it and would spend the $'s on other options

Interesting. I don't find my 550Barchetta to be too shaky- certainly feels more stout than my (former F430 spider).

WOW, that looks pretty good! There are some really talented artists out there!

Yes, its doable. The price is roughly what you would pay for the CF wheel. Well worth it IMHO as the LED lights are a "Ferrari thing" - at least to me.

See the above, you can have the LEDs without CF, but you will pay the same or a little more. But it is possible. It is an "EC" option. I agree with your criticism. I think for all those who don't want CF but also think the aluminum looks a little bit cheap also, I think you can have the aluminum painted. I don't know what I think about how this would work, I think it would depend on what color you are doing, but its possible. My main point is you might have more options than you think.

I agree, I think CF has become over used. But I also have seen it done in color and sometimes it can work out very well. In particular the CF in blue looks really nice, when paired in the right setting.

This is a great idea re: magnesium trim bits. I wonder if they can do that.

There has been going on a discussion about the Pininfarina house designs as well as Ferrari Flavio Manzoni team new design approaches, so below there are some pictures which show some of the evolution of front engine GT Ferraris rears from 1964 to the present moment.
